Awesome! I know goony doesn’t care for Pat, but I can’t imagine a game without him. I listen to games way more than I watch because he makes the game so enjoyable. And Arenado gets tossed.

It absolutely boggles my mind that a 1st place team can afford to continue playing Yadir Molina as the everyday catcher. His OPS for the season is .498 in 191 PA. He’s complete and utter garbage. I realize that defense is important for a catcher and I have no idea how he’s dating this year at his advanced age but it can’t be enough to offset the complete black hole that is his bat.

And he really does play every day just about. Twice in the last 10 days, he started and played both ends of a doubleheader. At age 40. With a sub-500 OPS.

The Cubs have only struck out 20 times in the four games so far this series. Not sure if that's a compliment to the Cubs' bats or an insult to the Cards' pitching but seems noteworthy

Cardinals have the second lowest K/9 in the Majors.

Luckily for them Goldschmidt is having the best year of his life at age 34 and Wainwright is still an ace at 41 so it's all good

Mark Leiter Jr. now has a 2.54 ERA, 3.89 FIP, and 3.09 xFIP when facing hitters the first time through the order (both starting and relieving). His K rate is 29.8%, BB rates is 7.5%, and GB rate is 47.8%.

He hasn't really gotten a velo boost out of the pen, so I wouldn't be especially confident ascribing the extra dongs to bad luck, but it's looking like that changeup or splitter is an absolute weapon in short looks. At minimum he's looking more and more like a cromulent 7th inning guy?
