Canario with a pair of HRs

Guy seems like he is Soriano-level streaky

He and Nelly are so similar. Feels like one of them ought to get traded prior to opening day '23

Darius Hill is now over 80 PA at Iowa and he's hitting over .390, I really don't know what to do with that.

Trade Ortega for an organizational piece and use him as an utility OFer or as a starter until the next option is better than Heyward.

Remind yourself of the .441 BABIP

I understand that Iowa is pretty much full right now for 1B/DH/COF types, but they've got to get Mervis up there sometime soon, right?

Sure a fair amount of it is probably good fortune, but in the minor leagues a lot of BABIP "luck" is a reflection of being too good for the level. Maybe not in this case to the same degree that a guy with a .250 BABIP in low A may not have the hit tool, but still. Even if you hacked off 70 points he'd still have a .360ish wOBA. Plus regardless of luck, hitting .390+ for 3+ weeks is remarkable on its own.

He's definitely been hitting the crap out of the ball. Given the COF profile and the lack of another carrying tool such as power, he's going to have to continue that to be valuable. The 4.x% walk rate is also not ideal, though guys often don't walk much when they're hitting that well.

Let's just say I would be happier having him in the lineup right now than Heyward. At least we can still dream on Hill.

The last time I verbalized that thought he had that crummy series against Miami and a few of their top prospects(5 for 26, 2B, 9/1 K/BB), but yeah we're at 150 PA of 1.000+ OPS with his peripherals being better than they were at South Bend. If he's not going there out of the all-star break at the latest then something has gone wrong IMO.

I'm 100% ready to move on from Rivas. Jared Young is probably never going to be a thing, but dump Rivas, get Young up here to make sure, and backfill Young at Iowa with Mervis.
