Do people really think he stuffed Hoge in a locker? lol seemed like an obvious giveaway that it was a joke.

The report is he grabbed Hoge's throat.

I guess I haven't listened enough to Kruetz's talk shows/podcasts/etc enough, but that is shocking to me. I could totally see him stuffing Hoge into a locker being the jock he is, but grabbing Hoge by the throat while doing it is....WOW

the tweet about him getting shoved into a locker was from a rando on twitter. it appears there was at least some truth to the tweet - whether or not the stuffing in a locker part was accurate. the sun times report about his throat being grabbed came out a little while ago today.

i honestly couldn't tell if the tweet was a joke or not (before the sun times reported/confirmed the incident having been between kreutz and hoge) because it's entirely believable thing for olin kreutz to do and doing it over mustipher both reads like a joke (making fun of olin for the way he talks about mustipher) and like something olin kreutz is entirely capable of being a sensitive bully piece of horsefeathers about, because he is that much of a childish buffoon.

Jones is a terrible pick, IMO. I thought he would have been a better option as the 2nd WR taken for the Bears.

My ideal draft so far ..

2) Booth CB from Clem

2) Moore WR from WMU

3) Raimann OT from CMU

Remainder of picks I would've made.

5) Braxton Jones - I actually kept the same pick. I still think Borom ends up at G. My favorite pick of the draft.

5) Matthew Butler -DT Tenn Athletic quick can play 3 or 5 technique.

6) Malcolm Rodriguez LB OK St Fast Athletic former S undersized

6) Quinton Lake S UCLA

6) Curtis Brooks DT Cincy

7) Dareke Young WR Lenoir Rhyne Big WR deep threat.

7) Marquis Hayes OL Oklahoma

7) Samori Toure WR Nebraska

According to a source, before a taping of their Bears podcast on Monday, Hoge and a producer were talking about Twitter reactions to Kreutz jokingly walking off the taping of Friday’s draft-night podcast in response to the Bears not drafting an offensive lineman in the second round. In regard to those comments, Hoge made a sarcastic remark about Kreutz being too negative about the Bears’ draft. At that point, Kreutz had just entered CHGO’s loft space and heard Hoge’s comment, yelling at him in response. Kreutz then charged at Hoge while he was seated on the video set. Hoge’s chair tipped back and Kreutz grabbed him by the neck before eventually letting go.

According to a source, Hoge tried to defuse the situation and even suggested going through with the taping of Monday’s podcast.

On Monday evening, CHGO released a statement via Twitter about the firing. Four minutes later, Kreutz retweeted his former employer with a meme.

Just took this excerpt from Greenberg's Athletic piece that describes what the incident was

This is my "what I would have done draft". Some is done with knowing where guys went in the draft, so while I liked a guy like Perrion Winfrey enough to take him at 39/48, he didn't go til the 4th, so if I wanted him, I would have picked him later with the benefit of hindsight of knowing that I could wait for him (for example).

39- Andrew Booth Jr., CB Clemson

I like Kyler Gordon a lot, but Booth was considered by some that evaluate prospects for a living as CB1. Gordon's probably the better fit, but Booth is the better prospect, IMO.

48- George Pickens, WR Georgia

This is a hindsight one, I would have just taken him at 39 and secured my WR. But he didn't go til 52, so I'd have taken him here. Booth was also rated higher IMO, so waiting til this pick would have been a toss up, but I likely would have hoped Gordon was here at worst.

71- Bernhard Raimann, OT Central Michigan

I said on Twitter or something that I didn't want him at 39, because of his age and rawness, but this is about where I had him graded. The Bears ended up taking an even older guy, LOL. Could compete with Borom at LT, and given the Bears a good swing (or could move Jenkins to RG).

168- Matthew Butler, DT Tennessee

I also just assume the trade downs still happen even though I wouldn't necessarily do them all if it were my choice. Butler has some potential as a 3T. Typical underachiever based on talent in the Vols program.

174- Dominique Robinson, DE Miami Ohio

This pick was dead on. I would get him on about half my mocks in the early 5th the Bears had before trade down. I thought there's no way he'd even make it to 148. Potential steal like Gipson was.

186- Cade Mays, OG Tennessee

I was a big fan of his for a couple years. He's not super athletic like the guys the Bears drafted, but Chiefs got a steal with his teammate Trey Smith last year (who I also loved) and I think he'd fit in the offense. Former 5 star who started at Georgia.

203- Bo Melton, WR Rutgers

I'm not a huge Melton guy, but too good to pass up right here. Kind of similar to Velus in that he has good speed and the ability to do damage underneath and get RAC.

207- Isaih Pacheco, RB Rutgers

Double up at Rutgers. Just watched him recently, great speed that he didn't get to show off much in a bad offense. But I was really impressed with his pass blocking and receiving honestly.

226- Chris Oladokun, QB South Dakota St

Don't know much about him, but the Bears brought him in for a visit. Looks like a good athlete with an electric arm. I'd love a camp body with some upside for the practice squad

254- Dohnovan West, C, Arizona St

Again probably not as athletic as the guys Poles actually drafted, but fits as an undersized zone blocking OL. A lot of Bears fans liked him more than I did. I think he's just too small, but at one of the last 10 picks in the draft, worth a shot.

255- Kevin Austin Jr, WR, Notre Dame

Another potential X WR that the Bears met with. They brought in like 5 UDFA WRs, so drafting 3 wouldn't have been a stretch. This he's more talented that any UDFA they brought in, by far.

Robert Mays on how screwed up things are for the Bears this season:

Dead cap fatalism is dumb.

The Bears entered 2022 offseason in a better position than both Falcons and Giants, easily. Not even close. Houston maybe slightly better off depending on how you interpreted the Watson situation at the time. They're kind of better off, with the assumption they'll be set up with a top 3 pick and assets to get QB of choosing in 2023.

I think something like $37m of that dead cap was created by the current administration. Not saying those moves necessarily didn't need to be made but they made those decisions to create the dead cap.

But the constant mistake is people treating dead cap as only significant in the seasons where it's accelerated from a cut or trade. It was always there though.

Of those four teams, here is where their future dead/guaranteed liabilities lied around October of last year (this data isn't super readily pullable, but I had been evaluating it around that time).

Houston 113.3M (1 of 32)

Chicago 149.5M (14 of 32)

Atlanta 161. 4M (18 of 32)

New York 183.3M (24 of 32)

So Chicago may have a higher dead cap hit in 2022, but NYs isn't non existant, it's just scheduled to hit in 2023 or later.

You can weigh this metric against rostered players (where Chicago is on low end), but at a gross level it still means their books were pretty clear. Mid tier team from past 4 years is mid tier cap leveraged. Huh.

9 times out of 10 the dead caps are inconsequential and at best are a useful trailing indicator of something else. Cap discourse would be wholly better off if they were never mentioned again IMO.

A guy I follow on twitter posted this thread on Kramer, the Center from Illinois drafted in round 6.

At the end he suggests that Kramer could start this year. That is unlikely, but if it did happen and Patrick slides to RG the starting 5 would be much easier to look at, assuming of course he's an improvement over Mustipher.

Some of you who are more informed on technique may be able to comment on the thread take.

What is proto-typical size for C in the NFL? At 6-2, 302 I'd think Kramer isn't *that* undersized, is he? That's all I read about him

Yeah 6’+, 300 lbs is about average for a center. Kramer might be a tad short. Jason Kelce is a 4-time All Pro at 6’3”, 295. Corey Linsley is 6’3”, 301. Ryan Kelly is 6’4”, 307. Etc. Pouncey is 6’4”, 304.

If Kramer isn’t an adequate NFL center, it won’t be because of his size.

I thought I read he was 6-2 and 304 lbs, which would seem inline for an NFL center. Hell, Kruetz was smaller then that even
