Still on pace for 53 wins w/all the injuries.

I'll take all the wins we can bank while Caruso and Ball are out. :beg:

Is it bad that when I see a new post in this thread on a night the Bulls don’t play I assume there’s been another devistating injury?

That's why I checked this thread first.

that's a rough loss with the games they have coming up

It’s the first decent team we’ve played on the road since Caruso was hurt. I was encouraged actually that they stayed in it as the raptors just destroy us with size.

I know this is not a popular thing to say but I think Ayo really hurt us down the stretch.

It's going to be really hard to avoid a play-in spot. 5 of the top 6 are essentially taken. If a tem like Charlotte or Boston gets hot, we're kind of doomed there.

I’ve been banging the “be concerned about the play-in” drum for awhile but I think I feel better about the Bulls after

this one. I fully expected a loss today. Zach’s back has him at way less than 100%, raptors size is a terrible matchup for us, bs, on the road, in the middle of our endless death March’s and we were one defensive rebound away from winning. This team may play down to bad teams but they usually play even with all but the very best teams too

I think LaVine's back spasms are going to be the next injury issue for the Bulls. He was definitely not 100% yesterday and played a ton of minutes. Yesterday was the first game in a 7 in 10 day stretch, including a 4 in 5. I'd guess he misses tonight and possibly 1-2 more games during this stretch. Bulls just can't catch a break as all these injuries have occurred during an impossible gauntlet of games (ironically caused by games that were postponed during their massive COVID outbreak). Currently in the middle of a stretch of 24 games in 41 days with not a single instance of multiple days off in a row. And they have played almost that entire stretch while missing 4+ rotation players.

Last couple possessions were rough for him, for sure, some bad turnovers at bad times.

Defense continues to be an issue for the team, where the offense has to be clicking to win games. Green, Bradley and Ayo are really the only plus defenders they've got available right now, and until Ball and Caruso get back, they'll have to win games by out-offensing their poor team defense, which gets even harder to do if Zach and Coby are out extended periods.

I'm stealing this right from a RealGMer's post:

Unfortunately, very predictable results. All the numbers pointed towards the Bulls collapsing into a bad team and the worst defense in the NBA without AC & Lonzo. Turns out numbers are accurate, who knew.

All the experts said a Demar/Zach/Vuc based team would be elite on offense and one of the worst defenses in the league. That prediction is turning out true without AKME's solution of Lonzo/AC. They had a great plan in the offseason, injuries and Grayson Allen basically killed the plan.

Cleaningtheglass.com:

Bulls with Lonzo/Caruso ON the court.

Overall: 92nd percentile

Defense 88th percentile

Bulls with Lonzo/Caruso OFF the court.

Overall: 36th percentile

Defense: 5th percentile.

If I'm reading the graph correctly, basically Lonzo and Caruso are the 2 best defenders in the NBA by far this season.

there might be value in slipping in the standings a bit, getting our guys back before the playoffs, and coming in underestimated especially if the early round opponents are the perceived contenders ala atlanta last year and miami in the bubble

i don't want that to really happen because i'm kind of obsessed with this team right now but it wouldn't be the worst if we don't fall out of the top 6

Just looking at the teams in the top 6, I'm not even sure who I'd like to steer the Bulls towards. We are 3-7 against the other 5 teams and 8 of those 10 games were played before we started having massive injury issues. That's not to say that the Bulls can't beat those teams, just that there seems to be some bad matchup issues so its hard for me to favor one over the other.
