LOL Sogard is so dumb. If he runs through the bag he’s safe. If he dives like a normal person, he’s safe. Instead I he tries to do both at the same time and is out.

Heyward is a stark reminder that signing the top FA isn’t always the greatest idea.

 

Heyward was an interesting case because he didn’t have an Uber elite bat but added a ton of value with his glove and legs while presumably having at least an average bat. He was in his mid-20s too so you shouldn’t have expected a decline at least in the first half of the contract. It seemed like a pretty safe bet that he would provide enough value to not be a disastrous signing provided he didn’t fall off a cliff with his bat. But of course his hitting fell off a cliff

 

Even still he’s been a 1-2 win player each year. Terrible for what he was getting paid but decent for someone with his batting line.
