The shitty part about the NBA and NHL finishing their seasons is that we’re about to go on another no daily sports gap. Hopefully college basketball starts up on schedule so at least there is that during the week.

It will be nearly a calendar year between Bulls games when they actually get on the court again lol

Anthony Davis opting out of his contract with the Lakers. It is expected that he will then become an unrestricted free agent and sign a contract with......The Lakers. Rondo also declining his option and becoming a FA.

Dennis Shroeder to the Lakers is happening for Danny Green and the 28th pick. I hate how good a fit this is, but probably takes them out of DeRozan and whatever else they've been rumored for. Though, still have Kuzma as a trade chip (lol).

I wanted Holiday on the Nets pretty bad but 3 firsts are alot for them with Durant and Irving not as young as Giannis. I get the move for the Bucks even if 3 firsts can sound like alot. That cost is nothing compared to losing an MVP in his prime and this move makes that less likely if still likely

Those 3 first are pretty problematic for Milwaukee when Giannis is in Miami in 2021-22.

I certainly get doing it if it means Giannis is staying. But we’ve seen in this league that’s a roll of the dice to assume stars intentions. Just seems like a lot for a 30+ year old (on an expiring contract) who plays the deepest position in the league when that’s a package that typically can return you a top 12-15 player in the league and not a top 30-50 player. Plus idk of Holiday is all that much better than Bledsoe, or at least spending all those picks on a marginal upgrade is worth it. Just seems like that package (or swapping Bledsoe out for Middleton) could’ve returned a better/younger player/star.

I really like the Bogdanovic move for the Bucks. That's underrated. I don't know what kind of depth they'll have at this point, but the starting 5 of: Holiday, Middleton, Bogdanovic, Giannis, Lopez is as good as there is in the league.

I'm really liking the Suns roster too. I was sold on them as a playoff team after that bubble performance. Chris Paul will take them up a notch. I've heard their next move is PJ Tucker, which I think could make them the team most likely to go on a Nuggets like run next year.

Between the Anthony Davis and Jru trades, the Pelicans now have Zion and Brandon Ingram, tons of cap space and 13 first round draft picks in the next 8 drafts. This feels like the Dallas Cowboys after the Herschel Walker trade.

Yeah the Pelicans and Thunder are set up great the next few years with their pick war chests. Should absolutely be able to add another star or two either with the actual picks (or at least solid role players) or use them to trade for the next disgruntled star.

Just wait for the picks they get when Ingram and Zion inevitably want out of there! But seriously, they should be able to be a solid team for a long time with all those assets. Between NOLA and OKC, there aren't going to be many other teams on the clock for the foreseeable future.

Counterpoints: Holiday seems much better than Bledsoe because of the defense, is a better a passer too. The stuff I've read (one article) made it seem like keeping Middleton was something they wanted to do. I'm big on one year deals these days too, think it's more a positive than a negative for teams. In the scenario the Bucks can't bring Giannis back, there's not a whole lot of benefit to having Holiday under contract. Hell, I think there's a case to be made that those first round picks are a whole lot less valuable to the Bucks if they lose Giannis since nothing's happening for a few years with or without them

The rest of this post is insane, should be read (should not be read at all) in the context that I think pro sports are a part of the oligarchy which is also insane:

Maybe the league's setting them up to sim some new kind of player development plan? The Nets built alot of their roster with second round picks, it took a while but they got there. Maybe this go around will take less time? I have no idea what their coaching and FO situation is but it does seem like the Bucks got to where they are through player development and smaller transactions, good opportunity for the league to explore how long it takes to rebuild from scratch after losing an MVP?

Counter, counter point

Sixers trading Al Horford to OKC for newly acquired Danny Green. Sixers also give up pick 34 tonight and a 2025 first rounder (yes, 5 years from now) to OKC.

Wild the NBA is stepping in on this for a star player to get like the 60th best player in the league to join him. Lebron and others have been doing similar horsefeathers to get far bigger and impactful players for years. Almost like the league wants Giannis out of Milwaukee.

I meaaannnn, that would kind of make sense.
