Goalie takes years to learn. A hard puck moving at 100 mph towards your grill will freak 99% of the population out, not to mention having to brace yourself in a perfect position while on two blades of steel.

how i read the bolded

The schedule is insane. There’s less than a month from the end of the Stanley Cup Finals to opening night. Free agency is going to be complete madness.

I thought the 2020-21 season is being pushed back to a December/January start?

The discussion about goalies came up while I was taking a break, but as a veteran of four years worth of terrible adult beginner rec league hockey, this subject is to me like native issues is to OMC.

Nhl teams finding emergency goalies instead of skiing up players has been around forever. I'm too lazy to look it up right now, but I think they pulled an amateur goalie out of the stands during a stanley cup final back in the newsreel days.

Basically everything on skates is harder than it looks. Making tiny knives on the bottom of your feet move your body the way you want them to is way more ideosyncratic than it intuitively feels. Goalies tend to be among the best skaters on the team because making small, accurate movements is actually really hard. Staying square to the puck and not leaving half the net open means moving precisely the right amount side to side or in and out every time the puck moves, and the puck is always moving.

No matter how I type it, google thinks I'm looking for Scott foster so I can't find the video, but a major junior team had a skater suit up in an emergency a few years ago. He gave up double digits goals and didn't look remotely comfortable.

PHI (4) vs. MON (12)

TB (2) vs. CBJ (9)

WSH (3) vs. NYI (7)

BOS (1) vs. CAR (6)

Boston had the best record in the East, but fell to the #4 seed in the Round Robin. The 5, 8, 10 and 11 seeds were eliminated in the qualifiers

WEST

LV (3) vs. CHI (12)

COL (2) vs. ARZ (11)

DAL (4) vs. CAL (8)

STL (1) vs. VAN (7)

St. Louis had the best record in the West, but ends up with the highest seeded opponent in the field of 16. The 5, 6, 9 and 10 seeds were eliminated in the qualifiers

With Tampa having injuries, Pittsburgh and Toronto out already. I think Boston has a pretty easy path to the SCF. The West is wide open. Going to go with Vegas. Boston probably takes the Cup.

I got 14-1 a while ago on the Avs, so go Avs.

There needs to be 90 minutes of time between the end of one game and the warmups for the next.

There is supposed to be a game at 8pm EDT in Toronto

It's now 7:45 and CBJ vs. TB is in the 3rd OT. Even if it ends in the next few minutes, the next game will be on a 90 minute delay

5th OT

Korpisalo has shattered the all-time record for saves in a game (and keeps adding to it, now at 85 saves).

The 8pm game may not start until past 11pm now

They moved the Boston Carolina game to tomorrow morning

I figured they would

Seth Jones set the record for most minutes played in a game (over 66:00 so far)

So the Rangers won the #1 pick and Alex Lafriere is getting compared to Crosby on NY sports talk radio. Is he that big a deal as a prospect? I see he's been the #1 guy the whole time so seems possible?

he's not even as big a prospect as hughes, let alone crosby
