So, I never thought Kimbrel was going to be great joining so late.

But is he going to be fine with a normal season next year or like is he legit not good? I have a hard time believing he's just totally lost it.

He wasn't that great last year either.

Both signing Kimbrel and trading for Castellanos were the type of moves this galaxy-brained FO should have done in their sleep BEFORE THE horsefeathering SEASON STARTED. Like, who could have possibly predicted the terrible bullpen and the terrible OF would be areas of need? GEE, IT'S A REAL PUZZLER.

Well this walkoff will be extra fun now

Good one. They’re going 1-2-3 without a whimper and you know it.

Yeah. No way they can score one (or two) runs the bottom of this inning.

I can’t remember the last time they even scored 3 in this situation

Assuming health I think he’ll be fine, not lock down like the past but good enough. He’s still throwing 96+ and has the breaker.

Theo wanted both (obviously).

I tend to agree.

Yup. If they had just signed him on a normal horsefeathering schedule he probably would have been fine, even if it was just the version of Kimbrel through most of the 2018 season.

I would have to think missing out on the playoffs 2 years in a row with this roster would be enough to move on from Joe.....2018 was a fluke deal though having the best record in the league and you dont even qualify for the LDS

Man, I love the PTR meme more than anyone, but I will never believe ever that the FO was suddenly broadsided by out of nowhere financial restrictions by the Ricketts. Yeah, the owners are lame as horsefeathers, but this is largely a repeat of the kind of horsefeathers bad spending Epstein got bogged down by in Boston.

I’m just working under the assumption that it’s true the team didn’t know they “had money” for Kimbrel this year until after Zobrist took his leave.

You may be right, but all signs lead me to believe they were hamstrung in not spending any additional money this offseason.

I believe he got the rug pulled on him, no way he spent what he did in the offseason going in to 2018 if he knew it would keep us out of last offseasons market entirely. And weren’t the owners in Boston behind some of those big deals? Crawford I think? They hired like a PR firm to dictate targets that would be popular or something.

Of course the Cards have a 2.20 ERA reliever just tucked away for extra innings

Pretty much the difference between these teams is that STL can crap out ace starters and relievers whenever needed and we have to desperately sign anyone in sight and pray to God they don't horsefeathering suck.
