Crawford, I would guess, isn't thrilled with splitting time with Lehner.

Crawford doesn't have much of a leg to stand on if that's his complaint.

Neither did Seabrook but it's only human nature to think that past performance should count for something. In Crawford's case, he's been better recently after a rough start.

But in the case of Crawford in particular, goalies sharing time is pretty much the norm, and Crawford has missed a ton of time over the past few seasons. He could not have possibly thought he was going to start in most games, or that Colliton is screwing him over.

Now, if he's upset because they've abandoned the concept of defense preventing goals, that's another thing.

I think they're paying Lehner ~ $5 million to split time with him. I bet if asked, he would rather they had used that money on a better defenseman instead. Objectively, he should understand. Hopefully, he'd be agreeable to a trade. From his perspective, The Hawks have already brought in his replacement and no athlete likes seeing that.

After a brief run of success in November the Blackhawks have lost three in a row in relatively embarrassing fashion. They will probably lose to Boston this Thursday. Then they face a horrible Devils team that just fired their head coach. If they manage to lose both these games, it might be time for them to make a coaching change; however, the guy most likely to fill that interim role is having his past behavior investigated.

Assuming the lack of racist comments, there's probably a good chance he avoids losing his job, but it would be funny if they end up keeping Colliton because the guy that would replace him was a [expletive].

Colliton needs to go. There are plenty of people that they could bring in on an interim basis. They could just fire Colliton's entire staff en mass instead of making it about Marc Crawford's history of abuse.

With deHaan hurt and out for a while it's time to start actively tanking. As a result, Colliton's job is safe for the rest of the season. He's the perfect coach for tanking since he doesn't have to do anything differently in order to lose games.

I only easy out for the Hawks on Seabrook's contract is for him to get Prongered somehow where he doesn't retire, keeps getting paid but doesn't count against the salary cap.

I'm sure the organization that signed Hossa to what turned out to be an illegal contract and then managed to wash away the last few years of that deal will be given the benefit of doubt.

The "illegal contract" part of it is the huge difference. Hossa is only making around $2 million in the final years of his contract which made it a perfect deal for a team trying to reach the cap floor without actually paying the money in salary. Seabrook's contract is under the latest CBA and his cap hit is basically the same as his salary.

Everybody's putting people on Robidas Island these days. It's not that hard as long as Seabrook is ready to retire.

He'd be walking away from a lot of money. Not saying it's impossible but he doesn't have to.

Robidas Island means LTIR. He'd be technically not retired so he'd still get paid, but he'd be put on LTIR every year.

Somewhat interesting....

Also interesting is that the Hawks have won 5 in a row and are 3 points out of a Wild Card spot (with a game in hand) and 4 points out of a division top 3 spot. Playoff projections have them about a 40-50% chance of making the playoffs.

Kirby Dach, the #3 pick in the draft has basically caught the 2 guys that were taken ahead of him in terms of points. He's looked really good recently.

A lot of teams, especially Toronto, have been asking about Lehner or Crawford. It will be interested to see what Bowman does there. Trading Crawford is harder because he has a NMC but if they extended Lehner he might be glad to go. Keeping Crawford would be cheaper but he's also older and has more injuries. Trading either of them weakens the one area where the Hawks have been consistently good all season. That game against Boston is a good example. If Delia or whomever the back up would be was in that game, the Hawks lose 6-1 instead of scrounging out a badly needed point.
