I'm not sure there is any freefall to be prevented here. This was a good team against a mediocre team, and it is pretty obvious which one is which.

man the last two half innings really show you where these two teams are at offensively. 1st and 2nd, no outs for cubs, runners never move. Nats just keep on walking and hitting and make huge inning out of nothing.

Ryan got the weak contact. Wick had thrown 24 pitches and only 12 for strikes and had already walked 2.

 

Soto is pretty even vs lefties and righties but better at working walks vs righties.

Yeah, getting beat by the Nats doesn't make me that upset. They are just a better team than the Cubs. I get more irritated when we struggle against the Pirates.
