Danny Hultzen to Iowa!!

Awesome news. If he flourishes there might not be a need to trade for that elusive LHRP. At least not the ones that barely move the needle.

We still need a good consistent LHRP. I wouldn't count on Hultzen just yet. Think of him as more of a late season addition/bonus. How he bounces back from being used 2 out of 3 days is important. The Cubs know they have to be careful with his injury history.

Yeah, he's already a great story but you almost have to treat him like the Cubs are currently treating Brandon Morrow.

I do get what We Got The Whole 9 is saying and agree with him - Hultzen might remove the need for a Tony Watson-level relief pitcher. He just doesn't eliminate the need for a top-end reliever if you really want to try to win a WS this year.

Please don’t be an injury.

According to the comments, it was announced on the broadcast that this was top allow him to pitch in the ASG.

Good. I wonder if he will get promoted to AAA after the ASB. The Cubs like giving players the ASG before promoting them but Tyson Miller deserves a promotion more than Cory Abbott and there are only so many spots in the Iowa rotation.

But they’ve already promoted the most obvious guy from high-A so I think Miller is in Iowa next week (and Alzolay in Chicago).

I think they move Davis along relatively slowly. I'd guess it's 50/50 he sees A+ at all this year.

Agreed. If he does see A+, it’s probably a cup of coffee.

Yeah, even if he keeps up what he's been doing so far I wouldn't want him up at MB before August.

A few years later than we wanted but it's really getting so that you can see the "wave after wave" of pitching. Every affiliate except MB has at least one very exciting guy, and every affiliate has several arms to like. I think this is the best the minor league pitching has been since like ~2010 when Cashner, Archer, McNutt, and Jay Jackson were all in the system at once.
