This is turning into a disaster

It’s almost like when you make someone pitch in heavy rain, they have trouble throwing strikes. Imagine that.

Hey, pitcher with no control issues as a Cub is having control issues in the rain. Maybe he shouldn't have to pitch in the rain

Game is too close.

Like I said before, we don't have many relaxing games. There will be more nervous moments to come in this one.

We really don’t. Even the ones where we have big leads we usually allow the teams to come back enough to where we have to have our good relievers come in and save us

Yeah, it must be confirmation bias, but it feels like so many games they'll have 1 inning where they score, like, 3-5 runs, but then that's it. And then even if the starter for the Cubs does well and goes 6 and only gives up 2-3, Joe's bullpen woes are amplified because he has to burn through relievers in what should be a relatively easy win.

I always come back to how it really seems as simplistic as being because their slugging is so relatively slow this season. If they had hit just, say, 25 more dongs (really not unreasonable given their roster; that would still only have them 11th in HR), it would have made a decent difference.
