But, hey, the Cubs don’t get any off days in September.

I was just looking at the schedule to see who we start off with next year and noticed this also.

We have 6 off days in March and April. 3 of those are because of various home openers (Texas, Atlanta and ours). But we've also got an off day between home series against Arizona then the Dodgers (the Dodgers are in Milwaukee before so makes sense they need an extra day for that long trip). And we've also got an offday after a Sunday road game in Arizona before going to Seattle (the Mariners are at home also right before). It's only a two-game series but it seems like they could have scheduled that for Mon and Tue and then a four game set Thur-Sun. So at the beginning of the season we play 29 games in 36 days.

And then we've got two off days in September with games on 18 straight days, including (as was pointed out) in San Diego on a Thursday before traveling home for a 1:20 start on Friday.

At least Milwaukee has a similar September schedule (a stretch of 18 straight days with a game and only two off days) minus the random San Diego to day home game thing. Cards only have 2 off days also.

Hopefully that all doesn't matter and we treat September as a victory tour like we did in 2016.

As far as being cocky is concerned, to be perfectly honest, I bet the Cubs go horsefeathering off next season. This year the wheels fell off, so javy just picked the cart up and carried it himself and they won 95 games. However for the first time in four seasons they're off golfing before the end of the NLCS, and it was a bad, whimpering way they went out too. Two runs in how many innings of two elimination games in Wrigley? Blech.

That having been said, I look at the players on this team and I can't imagine them just fading out into the backdrop of contention. I really expect that they're gonna come roaring back next season. I already have a weird confidence in the 2019 Cubs, to the point that I think being cocky about their chances is justified.

we're already bitching about the lack of off days for next year? let's not have that be our thing guys.

Yes that’s exactly what I was doing when I said that the Brewers and Cards have the same type of September schedule as we do.

Try again.
