6-7 since the break now. Hopefully Cole Hamels doesn’t give up a bunch of HRs tomorrow

Second half Cubs regression.

I can't even muster any frustration toward Russell on that play, and he annoys me often. Beat the throw by plenty, just some modern baseball horsefeathers happened. As cubswin said, runner at 2nd isnt great odds vs Rivero anyway

Would be cool if the Dodgers could win. Pretty amazing that the VB are guaranteed a five hundred trip with 3 to go on the west coast.

I think I’ve posted before but replay was never intended for calls like that........ If your body is over the bag and you reasonably hold the base you should be safe if you beat the initial tag. If you just go slide through or like flop way off to the side that you can’t reasonably hold the bag and are tagged you can be called out if the initial tag doesn’t beat you but you get subsequently tagged

I just keep telling myself this team is due for a long winning streak. But I know the SP makes that kinda tough to do:

They likely are but also 6-7 is really not that bad of a “tough stretch” and obviously yes it’s a problem if it turns in to like 25-28 the rest of the way or whatever is left

While I agree, then you get into a subjective gray area of what is enough to overturn a call and that is nearly impossible to apply consistently. I still prefer when replay was only used on the boundary calls, but I realize we are never going back there.

This is gonna seem so misplaced after the replay shenanigans, but JFC...why the horsefeathers is Almora hitting in the middle of the order vs. RHP? It took this long to finally get him out of the 2-spot, now he's right behind Javy? horsefeathers me.

The hardest part of these recent games is Javy is raking and it just sucks he isn’t carrying the team to more wins.

I didn’t realize it until this was pointed out to me recently but Butterfield does get ridiculously far down the line and Jesse seems to think that played a role in Russell not round 2B the best because he couldn’t pick him up.

Cubs have 4 vs SD this week then 3 in KC. Anything less than 6-2 vs them and the Pirates tomorrow would be disappointing. I know it's baseball but August should be a very good month
