Still think there's a ton of similarities between Steele and Zach Britton. The Orioles mistake was giving up on Britton as a starter too early. I don't suspect the Cubs will make that same mistake.

Eury Ramos found his control today. Got off to a rough start, but in his last 3 games:

14 IP, 11 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 13 K.

With the reports of him sitting 93-96, T97 in ExST, this development is surely welcome. Well worth tracking.

Wow, zero walks combined for Bruzual and Ocampo. That's probably a personal best for either as a pro. Clearly development is happening!

Um, Ocampo walked 2. And this is a joke post, right?

CubsWin, did you see Enrique de los Rios’ outing and if so, can you give us a quick and dirty scouting report? Thanks!

Two seamer at 89, Four seamer at 91-92, T93. Slider at 82-84. Also throws a curve and a change.

He's generally around the plate. Keeps the FB low and can pinpoint it on the outer edges at times. The change was often left up but has arm side run with drift.

What was most clear while watching this game is that Amaya is already a good framer of pitches. Better than Contreras, though that's not saying much.

Thanks! Was definitely hoping for a bit more velocity.

I've never read "plus raw power" in the future for Brennen Davis in any scouting report. He is super athletic and 6'4", but he's a skinny dude. He's listed at 175 lbs. right now. He might develop power down the road, but I'd rather he just focus on making contact.

I know I saw that in one of the draft reports, too. Obviously it's projection, a "possible" thing. But there are lots of guys who fill out and become a lot stronger and physically more mature by age 23 than what they were at 18. There aren't that many 175-pound 6'4" guys at age 23. So it's not inconceivable that he'll grow into significantly more batting-practice power over the next few years. Not sure it's "probable" that he'll grow into excellent real-game power, but it isn't impossible. (Well, I am sure: it isn't "probable", even if it is variably possible to have good or decent power.)

Obviously the Cubs spend a 2nd-round pick assuming he's going to grow into more than LaStella or Hendricks/Quintana power.

Like pretty much everything else with his game, something to track over time.

Two's probably a record between those two. Bruzual with none!

Yes, but it was over just 1.1 IP. So, just to be clear, these aren't joke posts?
