The first time Rush shows up to sing the Seventh Inning Stretch, I am done.

personally i wouldn't mind. i mean they're Canadian so i figured they'd be more likely to show up at a hockey game. I was always a big fan of Tom Sawyer, personally.

Getty Lee has a huge baseball memorabilia collection too!

It’s not an exclusive deal is it?

Don’t think so. Think they still are negotiating with Comcast and whatever other cable providers would carry it in the Cubs market.

I’m out of market so luckily I won’t have to pay for Marquee unless it’s somehow thrown in my existing cable sports package (that gets me like MLBN, NFL/Red Zone/SEC/CBSSN/etc). Which Idk if it will even be available out of market since they couldn’t show Cubs games. I’m going to get MLBTV still.

Mooch it up, baby!

Has DirecTV re-upped with NBC Sports Chicago yet? I remember seeing commercials trying to get people to call in and ask for it.

I do get MLB.tv for being with T-Mobile, but obviously I'm in market so I wouldn't be getting Cubs games. if my provider happens to not get Marquee, I'll just watch on Reddit streams I think.

I thought there were rumors of AT&T and DirecTV splitting up? If the carriage deal is with AT&T and they DO split, what does that mean with DirecTV?

I read the press release as the deal is with all of DirectTV, AT&T and Uverse. Shouldn’t matter if they’re ever split up/sold off. They have a deal with each provider.

Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBGI), and AT&T have agreed on a multi-year agreement across DIRECTV, AT&T TV and U-verse for continued carriage of Sinclair's owned local broadcast stations and Tennis Channel, for future carriage of Marquee Sports Network, a regional sports network featuring games of the Chicago Cubs launching in 2020, as well as for the 21 RSN brands Sinclair recently acquired and the YES Network, in which Sinclair is a joint-venture partner.

It would presumably be available out of market like any other RSN is, just would black out the games.

Well then I may be accidentally paying for it if it’s bundled with the above mentioned networks. I will not up my package to get it.

You probably wouldn't get it unless you upped to a full Sports Pack. It wouldn't be on any standard package.

I’m not sure how Marquee will work but I have U-Verse and NBC Sports Chicago and the Fox regional networks are all part of a pretty basic package. There are four levels of packages, and these channels are for sure in the second cheapest package.

Sorry, I meant out of market. If you're in-market, they'll likely be on a more basic package, but if you're not in the market then they wouldn't be on any package you didn't specifically add.

Patrick Mooney has a big piece on Marquee Network up on the Athletic

Just skimming through here are the things I saw

- Ross was in talks to do a lot of on-air stuff for the network before getting the manager job

- hired a guy from MLB Network to be head of programming and production

- "in the process of finalizing" deals with Len & JD

- seemed more like speculation, but Plesac, Derosa & Glanville were mentioned for possible on-air spots

- planning on broadcasting every spring training game in 2020

- after his press conference Ross filmed a one on one interview with Dempster for Marquee, so his brand of humor and entertainment figure to be prominent

- YouTube TV deal is supposedly close

- “There’s no political input from anybody on our sports programming,”

I can't wait to see which impressions of other people's impressions he adds to his repertoire.

I am glad Kaplan isn't going to be a part of it. Also, David DeJesus seems like a nice guy, and he has improved some from how comically bad he was when he first started, but that is a prime opportunity for an upgrade too. Definitely want Kelly Crull to be a part of it. Edited by TarzanJoeWallis

kelly is an nbc sports chicago employee. she's on the bulls beat now, i believe. don't think she'll be coming, but who knows. i'm not sure what her contract status would be or how that would work.

Yes, I know. But I was thinking at the time Kaplan extended with NBCSC that there was some speculation about her contract and whether she might be a candidate to go to Marquee. If she is able to go, I hope she gets the opportunity and does.
