Hmm

That can’t be good unless Tommy has bad sources.

Yeah, horsefeathers if he’s hurt now. What’s a typical pitch count for him? Any chance they just wanted him to have a lighter day?

He threw 60 today and has thrown 80+ this year. May have even topped 90 in one or both of his no hits through 6 starts

Alzolay today: Unfortunately, it's easy to see the difference between him and every other Cubs starting pitching prospect. He looked great, obviously, thru the first 3 innings. Was different but effective in the 4th. May have just been pitching to the scouting report but velocity was down 2-3 mph and sharpness of his curve was a little less but still good. Before his second to last pitch, Alzolay showed discomfort and it looked like he attempted to stretch out his right lat. Two pitches later, the batter flied out to center and that was that.

FB: 93-95 with ability locate on the edges. Some with nice arm side run without losing velocity. Induced ground balls on ones kept low. FB was 91 in the 4th. Not thrown as often. Don't know if that was due to pitching to the scouting report or discomfort.

Curve: 79-82, sharp breaking 12-6 shape. Consistently thrown for strikes both taking and swinging. Batters made contact with his curve once popping it up to the catcher.

Change up: 84-85, only saw two in the first 3 innings. Both were up above the belt and broke down at the end. In the 4th, he threw some good ones. Kept them low at 81-82 (though his velocity was down a tick or two that whole inning) with drop and fade back towards the right hand batter's box. Left another one up at 82 which was hit weakly on the ground for an out.

- Ademan hitting second for MB

- I do not hate Bryan Hudson’s season and am infinitely more willing to buy into him having an interesting ML ceiling than Underwood

- Dylan Cease is still in High A?

That was my first thought when I saw all this love for Cease on BA and MLB Pipeline in recent weeks.

If Cease is at High A in a couple months, that's pretty bad, but for now, I've got no issues with where the White Sox placed him. This is his first touch of HIgh A. They are in no rush at all, so the slow burn is okay, IMO. I do expect he'll be in AA sooner than later.

Hudson's 6'8" and only 21. Tbh, I'm not super huge on him, but I always thought it was a rush to judgment last year, when there were specific things he was working on. Gotta like his work this year somewhat ... bad start to the season, but instead of buckling under, he settled down and 4 out of his last 5 starts have been solid (did have a stinker on the 22nd ... still, the positive spin is that he bounced back).

That was a nice pitching matchup in AAA today ... shame Alzolay got hurt.
