we have a bunch of hitters playing out of their minds and we still can't win games. it is not promising.

We will be fine overall but this is super frustrating to watch

"we will be fine" is like the slogan of the post ws cubs

and in the only season since then they made the NLCs, so they were fine

Coors gonna Coors.

None of those hits had anything to do with Coors

The hits were all legit but Coors seemed to horsefeathers with his pitch selection and effectiveness tonight. He threw a ton of cutters and no curveballs

I was just thinking how it would have been nice if Ohtani picked the Cubs, because we could have avoided the Darvish debacle, but then I realized I was crazy for thinking Ohtani wouldn't suck too if he was a Cub.

If only they could figure out which stadium DOESN'T horsefeathers with his pitching.

And then leave him there.

The ridiculous start of 16 and the championship got people’s expectations out of whack I think but I’d like to not wait until the all star break to play good baseball I think

Lol

go write another post about how, actually, russell looks great

Well, that’s not what I wrote and I believe I specifically mentioned he hasn’t looked good. No need to be a prick.

Why do you even follow the Cubs if you are going to freak out every time something doesn’t go our way and act like the team is doomed?

Yeah it’s frustrating but the expectations are warranted and they’ve lived up to them. It’s just mostly people being idiots and not understanding baseball. Even in the most successful seasons there’s going to be 55+ losses. Losing sucks, I get that but it’s gonna happen.

Fair enough, no hard feelings. Just frustrated

i just think you go too far the other way in not trying to be a meatball. yes it's baseball, which means that even a team that should be great could suck. the fact that they went on a huge run in the last 2 months of last season doesn't mean that the 4 months of being mediocre couldn't have continued.

yeah, overreacting is annoying, but so is the "actually they are good, and you're an idiot if you think it's not a lock" also gets annoying. you don't know that. they suck to start the season again, and it wouldn't even be the weirdest thing to happen in baseball this year to see them finish the year at .500. does 3 weeks of mediocrity make that significantly more likely? no. but the rotation has some questions, and we can't count of the cardinals and the brewers being mediocre.

I was kinda expecting a slow start for Yu with the weird offseason and big contract pressure, but this is a little much. Very Lester-y in his first month.

Fair enough. I think there’s enough underlying indicators and data points to think and know fairly certainly this team is in fact good and will win mid 90s games and the reaction to results and baseball being baseball shouldn’t have people overly worried. If we could point to real things causing the suckage I’d be worried or other teams in the division being anything better than mediocre but that’s really not the case and over time this team should rise to the top.

Oh lord.

That was over the line I apologize. The sucking so far should give everyone the right to not feel great and be frustrated
