I just read there are new seats and they are super small. I’ve always Fit in the seats previously but now I’m concerned. Anyone experienced these seats?

But now I really want to find out if my parents ran into this; they're in Chicago for the Home Opener games, and their season tickets are in seats that sure as hell aren't that close to the field, but are in a section where everything was replaced by new seats.

This is a new thing with the reconfiguration of the walls/dugouts that happened to accommodate football and/or whatever changes might've been necessitated by the underground stuff they built. I think it's specific to a couple areas and not really a thing in most of the park (and I'm pretty sure all the lower grandstand seats were replaced in 2015-16). So if your parents are somewhat close to the outfield corner and a little in front there where the bullpen used to be (the bartman area), they might be at risk.

Heh, that's pretty much exactly where both of their pairs of seats are (though further back towards almost being under the upper deck). Yikes...

Anyone have a measurement on these "skinny" seats? I'm guessing they are the normal width of, say, a restaurant chair or kitchen table chair, but the world is beset by fat asses who wear jeans with elastic waist bands

You don't sit side by side in a restaurant or kitchen table do you bird leg?

Contrary what Ratboy Slim is throwing down here, the problem is less how "skinny" the seats are and more that it basically requires the people sitting in them to keep their legs together and their arms in their lap to not be spilling over onto the person next to them, yet it's an environment where they want you to to be able to move and eat and drink and whatnot.

Sports stadiums have never been know to accommodate manspreading with luxurious elbow room. Ever been to a college football game in a stadium that is nothing but bleacher seating? A brisk November game where everyone is wrapped up in winter coats buys you MAYBE 15" of butt space on that bench.

Dude, look at the damn seats; you don't even have to be unreasonably spreading before you've all over the person next to you. An average sized adult is going to have trouble not spilling over into the space of the person next to them. And why would it possibly matter what idiots do to sit on benches at college games when we're talking about the ridiculously overpriced seats at Wrigley?

No matter the size of the seats, it already sucks that you have to share armrests with seat neighbors that you've never met. This is taking a bad setup and making it worse.

I’ll have you all know that I have upgraded from “skinny” to “the unrealistic weight listed on the doctor’s height/weight chart” thank you very much

My problem fitting into seats as a big dude isn't necessarily the seat as much as it is the immovable armrests. First I need to squeeze my fat ass between them with great pain and then when I sit down the arm rests are digging into my hips. [insertRayFinkleJoke]

Same as on a plane. If there are adjustable armrests, I'm okay with squeezing my legs together for long periods of time.

Also: never horsefeathering side with management, ESPECIALLY over horsefeathers like this.

Oh, it’s a dumb move by management for sure.
