Apparently Arizona State is going to hire Herm Edwards. Lol.

63 year old coaches with no recruiting ties to the state are the new market inefficiency

Maybe he can recruit some players that play to win the game.

We are less than a month removed from Doeren hijacking his own postgame press conference to make a baseless implication that Clemson was cheating with a laptop on the sideline, but sure, Tennessee, go for it.

Millions of dollars spent, multiple recruiting classes destroyed, and years of investigation against Ole Miss chiefly because a Mississippi State LB claimed in an immunity interview with the NCAA that Ole Miss boosters paid him $10,000 the day before signing day. Well, it turns out that he made it all up at the request of Dan Mullen when a video surfaced the day of signing day showing Lewis flaunting all his cash. Mullen apparently came up with the idea that, in the event the NCAA ever came sniffing about that video, they'd need to deflect it onto someone else.

When Lewis went to Ole Miss' NCAA hearing, he admitted it was actually Mississippi State who paid him.

According to sources, Lewis told the Committee on Infractions he received a cash payment of $10,000 “from Mississippi State” on the eve of National Signing Day 2016 to sign with the Bulldogs. When pressed by members of the COI to elaborate, sources say that Lewis stated that he received money to attend MSU from Calvin Green, a defensive backs coach for Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Miss. Green is the father of Farrod Green, Lewis’ friend and Mississippi State teammate, according to sources and documentation.

2 year bowl ban for Ole Miss, 13 scholarships, vacated wins, and multi-year show causes for the five coaches named in the allegations.

Jeez. What's amazing is that Ole Miss took the approach of "exemplary cooperation" with the NCAA. Of the 21 allegations, 17 were self-reported by our own compliance department.

Let that be a lesson to any school when the NCAA shows up: do what Auburn and others have done, give them the double birds and tell them to eff off.

Chris Kiffin (Lane's brother) got a 2 year show cause because he allowed Laremy Tunsil to sleep on his couch one night. Tunsil wasn't a recruit or a commit. He was a current player at the time. THAT gets you a 2 year show cause. The NCAA is a joke.

Eh, every case is just some intern spinning the "wheel of punitive nonsense" and seeing where it lands. There is not way to predict how or why the NCAA does anything. The sooner the Power Five break away from that organization the better

You got that right.

So the grand total of impermissible benefits in the Ole Miss case *drumroll*.... $5,600, and none of that was pay for play. It was two players keeping a loaner car out for a month too long, car rides, a player sleeping on Kiffin's couch (they said this was only valued at $27), two players EIGHT years ago getting help on their ACT under Houston Nutt, a player hunting on the land of a booster twice, the stepfather of a recruit getting a free night at a hotel, and a baseball booster who runs the FCA in Memphis giving a 2-star recruit a ride to a bowl game.

Meanwhile at Alabama...

UNC should have ended any cooperation with the NCAA. Just make up some garbage ex post facto reasoning for what happened (even if it conflicts with things you've already said) and you're golden.

These sanctions are strange. Usually a 2 year bowl ban carries with it far more scholarships than just 13. Ole Miss has already self-imposed a 1 year ban and has already self imposed 11 scholarship losses over the past 3 seasons. Thus, after this 2018 recruiting class in February (where they will impose the final 2 scholarship losses) and the 2018 bowl season, the punishment is essentially over.

I am reading that Ole Miss players can transfer without penalty. Fake news?

The ridiculous thing is, if reports were true about him targeting Brohm, Sumlin and/or Leach...those are all pretty good candidates for UT, and his bosses basically kept him from hiring any of them. What a mess.
