Using Monty now and not in a more meaningful spot vs the Cardinals or White Sox on Monday is a bit puzzling

Yeah, wtf, Joe? I feel like there were numerous opportunities he's made sense the past two series. Maybe he was just a little worn out from starting and they wanted to give him a breather before launching him into pen role.

Should've used the Dodgers DL strategery then

I know it's a AAA/AAAA lineup but it's still nice to see Jake dominate

Very nice. Despite the bomb in 7th, his velo held up well tonight, too.

Sinker was 92.5 average in 1st. 92.2 in 6th. 91.5 in 7th. That was beginning to become my main worry, that he was fine now but would wear out fast. Only a 5-inning guy or something.

He might be good and ready to go deep now.

Explain please

len was trying to get jd to guess a player and one of his hints was something like "you might serve dinner on his first name"

and jd goes "hmm...platter jones!"

Len quizzes JD about player who's reached base the most via an error. JD doesn't know. Len gives multiple hints: happened against Cubs, very fast, stole 7 bases in series, broke his wrist. JD still with no guess. Len says, "Name is something you might serve dinner on..." JD guesses. :D

That's my only way to try and rationalize to myself. They wanted to give him an extended break from his last start moving back to the pen on top of having his first outing, out of the pen be a low leverage spot to get normalized to it again.

lol cubs about to be 110-59 post all star break since 2015

I actually meant to ask this the other day but what was the Cubs best rolling 162 over the last few years? I know at one time we were at like a 119 win pace or something over 130 straight games or something crazy.

I figured that or from the moment we got hot in the 2nd half 2015 through that 11 game win streak July into August 2016 even including the crap Fowlerless month or so had to be a crazy stretch considering how hott the end of 2015 was, beginning 2016 and the 11 game win streak.

so espn talks about DL stints since 2010 (Brett Anderson is #1 with 10 by the way), they show Strasburg has been on the DL 9 times (edrooney.gif) and Pedro Gomez says that one of them was TJS so he should get a pass for that one. shouldn’t that one actually maybe count double?
