Another guy left in scoring position with less than 2 outs?

140 pitches combined through 3. This game might go 5 hours.

 

is it longer through 3 than yesterday? (i don't actually expect you to be able to answer that)

Look, just because you get your hard drive scrubbed on the regular doesn't mean the rest of us have forgotten decades of lousy Cubs baseball.

What happened?

Heyward made a nice play to keep Polanco to a single, and after Russell gets it he looks at the baseball like he's never seen one before and just randomly throws it in the vicinity of Butler allowing Polanco to reach 2nd

Taking into account arm tiredness effecting the ability to pitch as PC increases, if the Cubs forced Butler to pitch a complete game, it would take him approximately 748 pitches.

108 mph off the bat and an out? Probably not bad luck or anything like that, I mean these guys have been playing baseball for years, so they should know where the defenders are standing.
