Hatch is throwing strikes today. 5 K's in 2 innings, on 36 pitches. 2 hits and a walk led to a run in the first.

Burks went 2 for 4, nice to see him get back in a groove quickly.

Provided this keeps up a bit longer, he's probably around the Cubs' top-10 now right?

Yeah, he'd have to be. We've got some interchangeable parts outside our top few, but he's got to be in that area. If he keeps an OPS north of .800 all year, he's probably going well into most top 10's.

Hatch ends up with 13 ks in 5.1. Gives up 3 runs, 2 earned. For a brief moment the ERA dipped below 5.

Pretty amazing. 13 outs by K, one caught stealing, only two outs on batted balls.

9 balls in play, only got two of them out.

Baseball is a funny game.

Burks wouldn't make my Top 10, but mid teens.

Hatch has some weird numbers. If I'm doing the math in my head, he's got a BABIP-against of over .350. His K/HR/IP splits are great. Walk-rate stinks and BABIP is lousy. If the latter is just a matter of bad luck, as opposed to getting behind all the time and throwing fastballs down the middle to keep the walks from being even worse.

Yeah, Burks wouldn't make my top ten either. He'd be in the 11-20 though.

It's early, but for right now, my top 10 probably sits at:

1. Jimenez

2. Happ

3. Candelario

4. Cease

5. De La Cruz

6. Clifton

7. Caratini

8. Zagunis

9. Amaya

10. Albertos

To be fair, Cubsclapp said "around top of 10." I went through a rough top 15 and landed on Burks at 12.

Mos def.

I don't think anyone was misinterpreting Cubsclapp's words. Just stating their opinions as to where they'd place him. I think you can make a valid argument for having him anywhere 8-18 right now depending on what you value and how highly you think of other prospects. And as davell said, if he keeps up this level of performance the rest of the season (.800+ OPS), he will likely be in a lot of top 10 lists by season's end.
