Heading shortly to watch Hatch and the Pelicans take on the Wood Ducks tonight - will do my best to provide amateur (i.e., bad) scouting report later if I can

if hatch pitches especially well tonight i'll change my avatar to him. hopefully i'm close enough to yell that to him and that'll give him extra focus in tonight's game.

LaStella in the Iowa lineup. Hit and a walk his first two PA.

The guy is just a hitter. I think getting regular action at Iowa for a while will actually be very helpful for him. It's been a while since he's had that.

Best wishes to him.

Rosscup's never been able to translate it up. But he's back to his minor-league thing. 9K/0BB in 5 innings. The guy is a killer K-king in the minors.

Given the shaky Loogy landscape in Wrigley, it's not impossible that he might get another call-up at some point?

So Pierce Johnson is getting ground balls and a ton of K's, but, yeesh, those walks.

Zagunis seems to be coming around. Over his last 6 games, he's homered twice, walked 6 times, and only struck out 3 times. He needs to get his BABIP to come back around. But, I think he'll put up some good numbers this year.

ATTN: Expert Analysis Post

There was no radar gun in "Historic Grangier Stadium". Hopefully it's less historic and more today's day and age soon. Hatch seemed to be pretty good/ok. Basically he seemed to be a "guy" - though he touched on being a gamer at times. He threw pitches. Most were caught by the catcher. Some, however, bounced in the dirt before the catcher received them. He didn't seem to be pleased with those types of pitches. I wasn't either. Several Cubs fans in attendance - and one Down East Wood Ducks Employee - appreciated my "Try Not to Suck" shirt. No word yet if the Wood Ducks Employee has quit in recognition of the error in his ways and applied to be a part of the Cubs organization (I suppose he would probably have to be demoted. Perhaps to AZL).

No MB player did much at the plate that I saw. There was an old lady next to me and I asked her "Do you live in Kinston (NC)?" She said, "No, I''m from Nebraska". To which I replied, "Well, I clearly meant are you from Kinston, Nebraska?". I then commented on how I was impressed she was taking score of the game. She replied that she wasn't taking score - she has her own method. Basically, she just drew diamonds to varying degrees for each player on her card. I was still impressed and she obviously loved me. I drank a few beers and there were many, many rednecks there. People seemed annoyed at how I was actively rooting for MB. I did not care. The girl I was attending the game with asked why players run past first base when there is a pop up that's not been caught. I said because the Cubs organization is ballsy as hell and preach aggressiveness.

Had a good time. Will attend today with a hometown friend and try to be more sober (unlikely as I'm taking tomorrow off from work). Stay tuned.

Very righteous analysis. I feel like I was there.
