CSN Chicago, along with all the other CSNs, will have in-market streaming of local MLB games through the NBC Sports app this season, provided you have a pay-TV package that includes the channel.

That's awesome, I was actually just just wondering about that.

This is so amazing. Now only WGN stands in my way from being able to watch any Cubs, Bulls and Blackhawks game (not to mention any Michigan FB/BB game except stupid BTN plus games) that I want from my phone/tablet.

This is probably a stupid question. I live in the Cubs market and have CSN through U-Verse. I know I can stream the games now when I am at home. But, will I still be able to stream the games when I am out of the market on vacation? If I am sitting in a hotel in San Francisco can I stream the Cubs game?

From the linked article:

Authenticated CSN subscribers can access live MLB, NBA and NHL games, as well as other sports programming, anywhere in the United States.

I haven't been able to figure out how to activate in-market streaming. Is there some trick that I'm missing?

what are you doing?

(also tonight's game is not on CSN so it wouldn't be available)

You might have to update the NBC Sports app to get it to work. If all else fails I believe you can stream at csnchicago.com.

And of course like David said, you can't stream it if it's on WGN or ABC7

I'm not getting them either, but sox games just started showing up in the app for me the other day so maybe it's on the way to being fixed?

I haven't gotten it to work either. Using the NBC Sports app on Roku, signed in as a Directv customer...but it says that I'm blacked out on Cubs games. It's not a huge deal because I can still watch on another tv in the house that has the directv receiver, but it's still annoying.

i've used it once at work a few weeks back with no problems...as a directv subscriber.

haven't tried again since so i can't say whether i would've had any issues.

I'm watching on the NBC sports app! WOO HOO!

Nice, I forgot to even check mine last night.

the picture quality was better than I expected, but it did flake out on me a couple of times. once it went to commercials in the middle of an at bat and the other time it went to a black screen and never recovered. definitely miles ahead of the grainy streams I've been finding on reddit

My problem was apparently a rather stupid one -- I thought that the in-market streaming would be through mlb.tv. So I was searching all over MLB's site for a way to enable that.

Once you guys said NBC Sports App, I had no issues. Thanks!
