Spent 4 picks on a guy who couldn't beat out Marquise Williams for the starting job at UNC.

This logic is bad. Good NFL prospect and good college QB (especially in a spread scheme) is not close to comparable. Hell, maybe the best QB in NFL history couldn't beat out Brian Griese in college.

Guys guys guys, it's obvious that Pace coveted Trubisky, and thinks he's a franchise QB.

He also knew that the Niners were trading the pick to someone so they could draft Trubisky.

You think your franchise QB, your future, is about to get snatched up, you do what you gotta do. They're lucky that the Niners wanted Solomon or else they probably make the trade with the Browns.

Obviously if he ends up a franchise QB we are all thrilled with the trade. Pace is staking his Bears career to this move so I guess how much you like the move depends on how much you trust Pace.

Trubisky will be bad. Bet on it. Couldn't beat out Marquise Williams at UNC. Looks great in shorts and a t-shirt, but this is a joke of a pick

Oh, ok. I'm gonna take derwood's opinion on anything lol

Better side with "draft expert" Sulley

Dude, only you are you

Sure, if you use the outlier rather than the vast vast majority of successful NFL QB's, your logic is sound

Is there any doubt that the 49ers wanted Thomas all along?

No, but it wasn't about the Niners, it was about the Browns.

Honestly, if that's true and depodesta wanted him that bad, that'd make me feel better about the trade

what the horsefeathers has depodesta ever done to command that kind of respect?

dude sucked in the sport he was supposed to be good at.

i'm more of the mind if the cleveland browns really want something you have your eye on you don't go to the mattresses with them.

If he thinks Trubisky can be Drew Brees, then he absolutely has to get him.

Answer the question. Trubisky was rated fringe-first rounder after the season. He just got picked #2. What (besides hype) made him jump so high? What about his tape makes anyone think he's worth 4 draft picks? What franchise QB's in the NFL had this guy's limited resume?

Do you even know what an outlier is, Derwood?

I'd define an outlier as a 6th round draft pick being the best QB in NFL history. You?

If the Browns were willing to give up real assets to move to #2 to get Trubisky, then wouldn't they just draft him #1 overall? A franchise QB is worth way more than a All-Pro type DE.

Workouts and scout evals? And many services had him pegged as top 10 after the season.

The guy has the goods, size, quick release, accuracy, and speed.

But what about Bofa, then?

I'd be thrilled if I'm wrong about this. Thrilled. But this is such a massive overreach that I still can't believe they did it

Because Garrett is about the safest pick they can make. A trade up for Trubisky just makes them look active and smart after picking Garrett.

My logic is Marquise Williams was the prototype college gimmicky spread QB. He ran for several hundred yards and threw in an offense that didn't require him to read a defense. He won 10 games in 2015. It happens all the time.

Gotta love that competitive drive lol

Besides the fact that i think Trubisky is going to be great, the bonus is that this makes you miserable.

I was upset when we traded up to get Floyd last year but Pace played his 2nd rounder to perfection... and I'm expecting him to turn the 36 into a nice haul of mid-rounders that will make up for the picks we just gave up.
