There is also a special paranoia with Cards fans with respect to the Cubs.

And vice versa.

Sports fans are ridiculous.

Before I moved to Cardinal country, I was mostly ambivalent about the cardinals. Most Cubs fans I know are as well. I hated the Astros, mets, cards, in that order. After living there for a few years I love to razz my cards fan friends.

But many/most cardinal fans genuinely love to hate the Cubs and have a weird insecurity about them. There's also the extrem big brother syndrome about all things Chicago contributing as well as (where I was, on the Illinois side of the river) the hatred of Chicago's domination of state politics.

It really is different than typical fan rivalry hatred.

I find the big brother/little brother relationship between Chicago and St. Louis even more humorous having lived here as long as I have because St. Louis claims the same kind of relationship to Kansas City and makes fun of them for their inferiority complex on a very regular basis and absolutely no one sees the irony in doing that.

Anthony Rizzo said the perks of winning were great but he's ready to get back to work. He told former teammate and now foe, Dexter Fowler, he wants him to go 5 for 5 against the Cubs but lose every game. Rizzo saw Fowler at Kris Bryant's wedding last week and told him: "Its 2017 I can't talk to you anymore."

Well that will be awkward at the White House next week, because Dex is confirmed to be attending.

They should make him stand off to the side by himself or something.

It seems pretty obvious that these bigotted meatheads only read the title of the article when they commented. What he said is maybe the most benign criticism of the travel ban from a public figure I've seen since it was announced.

Dexter's reactions also just make me like him even more. I wish his talents were irreplaceable so we would've been forced to keep him.
