Montreal is 8-0-1, 17 pts through 9 games. Holy crap. +17 GD as well

I'm just happy that Columbus is 3-3-1 after 7 instead of 0-7-0 like last year

I hate how they are acting like Montreal's hot start justifies trading Subban for Weber.

With all of the injuries to start this season, you'd have to think at least some of that is due to the WCOH messing with pre season.

Weird scheduling this year. Going into the weekend, Calgary had played 12 games, and Columbus has played only 8. Most teams have played 10-11. Not sure why Columbus had an entire week off early in the season

This has happened the last couple years which I think means that it has something to do with the realignment when they moved Detroit to the Eastern Conference.

I'm going out on a limb and saying Montreal will be suffering their first regular time loss of the year

holy crap

Jackets are 4 for 5 on the power play, putting them at 44% on the year lol

If memory serves me right, Montreal was the first 20 game champion last season. They then used Prices injury to excuse being so bad the rest of the season. If they were really a contender Price being out would not have knocked them out of the playoffs.

CBJ just completed their best November in team history (9-2-3, 21 points). Don't know what clicked for them this season, but they are playing great

i don't blame Eakin too much there, it looks worse in real time than replays; you see him trying to squeak by sideways but there's no lane

goalies shouldn't be dawdling with the puck for 6+ seconds like that expecting the forecheck to idly wait for the breakout, make them live and you get rid of this somewhat, as well as Mike Smith types trolling for majors

replay @ 23s exonerates him somewhat imo

you skate in a crouch and trying to fit through small space at the boards like that stood straight up it'd look that way all the same

maybe intent was there, but seems he's sort of caught in-between without really anywhere to go and Henrik's sloppy as hell with how he played it

Any way you slice it, that's Eakin's fault. I'm not buying that Eakin couldn't do anything else, but even if that's true...don't put yourself in a situation where the only course of action is to elbow the goalie in the head.

The Metropolitan is ridiculous.

Over the last 10 games:

Penguins: 8-1-1

Rangers: 6-4-0 (eh)

Jackets: 9-0-1

Capitals: 7-2-1

Flyers: 10-0-0

He knows he can't make hard contact with Lundquist there as it's a penalty. His responsibility is to close off the reverse along the boards. If he wants to pursue the puck there was room between Lundquist and the net.

He launched into him and targeted his head. He deserves 5 games for this so he'll probably get 2.

New Year's Eve, the Blue Jackets (14 game win streak) will face the Wild (11 game win streak). It's the first time in NHL history that two teams with 7+ game win streaks have faced each other

Sydney Crosby with his 1000th point. Fastest to 1,000 among active players. Not a huge fan of the guy but hats off to him for that accomplishment. I'd be curious to know how many of those are secondary assists but my guessing not a lot.
