ok so you guys know i'm about a half notch below mojo in my hockey indifference. so last time i remember checking, the hawks were hanging with the wild points/record wise but i remember them being wayyyyy behind in goal differential (like i remember it being maybe mid single digits positive). the hawks now have a +40 differential (still behind the wild's +54) and are ahead by 7 points.

what the hell happened? have the hawks been blowing everybody out for the last several weeks or something?

was it just toews not sucking anymore (this was one of the narratives i had heard by sports media osmosis)?

The Wild have lost 5 straight. The Hawks have been scoring 4 goals a game lately. Contributing to that run we have the following:

Nick Schmaltz looking like a top 6 talent.

Hartman and Panik scoring more goals.

Some guy named Kane being red hot. Must not be very good since they gave him 88. (Sorry, it's a spring training thing.)

Johnny Oduya has solidified the defense. He allows TVR to be on the third pair where he belongs.

annoying ending, but that was another awesome comeback to get a huge point

All the calls went against them in that final stretch. The disallowed goal (right call), the goaltender interference on Toews (wrong call) and the lack of goaltender interference on the final goal (not sure).

Great game tonight, we really needed those two points. Ya'll are just cruising to the point where there isn't even active chatter for each game lol. Good luck in the WCF/Cup Final.

Panarin is threatening to again get his max bonus by finishing top 10 in points.

Here is how things look with 5-6 games left for most teams:

8. Burns (SJS) - 73 points (6 GR)

9. Malkin (PIT) - 72 points (6 GR)

10. Draisaitl (EDM) - 71 points (6 GR)

11. Seguin (DAL) - 70 points (6 GR)

12. Panarin (CHI) - 69 points (5 GR)

12. Tarasenko (STL) - 69 points (6 GR)

Then 11 guys with between 65-68 points.

St. Louis. I want revenge

Nashville. I don't care who ends st louis' season.

I want Calgary the least, I could just see Tchkachuk elbowing somebody important in the head.

should i worry that every game we seem to win lately, its with fewer (and like, 10) less shots on goal, or should I be really horsefeathering happy Kane and Panarin and KEISEACAMHJA are on this team???

You mean the last two games, and last game was over by the end of the first period.

and in their win streak before the two ugly losses. Score a couple early, put the defense on kill, and if the goalie can keep his head on, this team just picks its spot late. whoever>kane>panarin score. whoever>panarin>kane score.

its almost like, someone told them they were old and past their prime, "McConner" - "The Wild" -"The Penguins", they werent the focus anymore and they responded by saying "horsefeathers that" and kicking everyones ass

Wait when does the Hawks series start?

Tonight. It would be nice to score a goal. I do feel the Hawks will end up winning this series. Last year the Preds went into Anaheim won the first two games there, proceeded to lose the next 3 before winning the next two. I think something like that will happen this year, with the exception of the Hawks blowing a 3-2 lead like the Ducks did.

feels weird to see a Q-era hawks team no-show a postseason like this. they have just looked dead from the start of game 1.

Yeah when did the Hawks become the Wester Conference Capitals?
