I would haven apoplectic if that went yard after those awful calls. Just got home - is that indicative of how he's been calling, or just rare mistakes?

OTOH, Edwards Jr. is pretty much the man. He's going to be their secret weapon in the bullpen this October with Chapman the not-so-secret weapon.

With Rondon the pretty much not a secret weapon, and Strop the kind of a secret weapon, and Grimm the occasionally unhittable secret weapon, and Montgomery the jesus they have this guy too secret weapon.

he made an awful strike three call on bryant earlier in the game, but otherwise i feel like he has been okay. maybe it's just diminished expectations after having a blind man adjudicating balls and strikes last night.

Kyle is going to finish the year with a sub-2.00 ERA and deservedly win the Cy Young.

The only remaining question is: will he smile when he receive the award?

Today's awesome yet pathetic fact of the day.

It is August and the Cubs have 84 wins. Only 12 Cub teams since 1945 have won more than 84 games in an entire season.

the yankees have had 52 seasons of 84 wins or more since 1945.

I'd be pretty surprised if Kyle wins the Cy Young. Still too many old school idiots who will value wins.

Honestly I'm not sure that's the biggest thing anymore, remember Felix winning with a 13-12 record a few years back (though it definitely helped Arrieta last year). I think his innings will be a big deal, and maybe a few other flashy stats like strikeout totals. And anyway, he could finish with damn close to 20 wins if he keeps this up.
