Tom, what have you heard about Gutierrez? I've got that he got $550K, is <6 feet tall, doesn't K much, gets thrown stealing more often then he succeeds, and has gobs of triples. Is your info that he projects as a really athletic CFer, even though he's presently not fast enough to steal effectively? Do scouts project some power? Or are we projecting more of a hit-and-run type guy?

The Cubs really liked his tools and he was supposed to be a project, very raw. He's acclimated himself quickly, putting up better numbers than what was expected from him this year.

One of the multiple 17 YO switch hitters at an up the middle position in the DSL, catcher Henderson Perez, has come on this August. He was hitting below the Mendoza line to open the month but is hitting .344/.474/.517 with 3 SBs over 38 PAs to open August. Unfortunately it's come with a 34.2% Ks, but as a switch hitting 17 YO catcher I'll just be happy he is not [expletive] the bed.

His BABIP has to be absurd to carry a line like that with a 34% K rate and what has to be a decent BB% rate with an OBP 130 points higher than his average.
