I knew I shouldn't have said anything because immediately afterwards Jakes threw 6 straight balls

Yeah, but then he cradled his two giant ones.

I'm not drawing any grandiose conclusions from this, but it really is uncanny how many mediocre pitchers we've faced on days where they happen to have their A stuff.

It's almost like you have some kind of confirmation bias.

Hands up if you're genuinely worried this guy is going to pitch a perfect game.

If so, keep that hand up and go walk in front of a truck.

The Cubs will play 162 games this season, most of them against pitchers that are varying degrees of 'not great'. If 100 games a year are against that caliber of starter, then we should expect this to happen dozens and dozens of times per year, even if the Cubs have a great team and offense.

This is what baseball looks like, and this is why it's so great that it's a long season.

That would be tough to do since the perfect game is already over with.

Get out of here with your logic.

well, I figure its because the Cubs asked about Paxton and Walker and the Ms said no, how about Miley? And the Cubs said, naw, Miley kind of sucks.

Best team to ever consistently be threatened to get no hit.

IT'S THE FIFTH INNING, YOU MONSTROUS GOON.

We've been no-hit through 5 at least 3 times this year off the top of my head. How many other teams have done that?
