Cards gave up a run in the eighth and one in the ninth and trail the Marlins 7-6 in the bottoms of the ninth. Lead off hitter singled to start the inning, though.

EDIT: K, K, 1B, K and Cards lose.

Pittsburgh is not as good as they were looking before the break.

Odds are they're going to get hot again. Next bunch of games:

3 vs. Milwaukee

3 vs. Philly

2 vs. Seattle

3 @ Milwaukee

3 @ Atlanta

3 vs. Cincinnati

3 vs. San Diego

I wouldn't be surprised if Pittsburgh is leading the WC race come the middle of August.

Dang, San Francisco just lost in the bottom of the 10th on a game ending balk. Casillas came in for the 10th with a 1 run lead, gave up 3 singles and a run and then balked with a runner on third for the loss.

I still think that they're the second place team in the Central at the end of the year.

The cards losing carp and moss for an extended period of time hurts them a lot.

The pirates really need cole at 100℅, and taillon and Glasgow to be very good immediately.l iriano also needs to get his horsefeathers together for them to have any real chance. Oh yeah, cutch has to be cutch, too

I see the Bucs dealing for a SP, and McCutchen seems to be coming around.

Of course I don't think either Pittsburgh or St. Louis have a real shot at the division, and it's not going to be easy for either of them to nab a WC spot. On the other hand, the Mets' rotation could continue to crumble, and that would make things a lot easier.

Yeah, I think the Mets are being exposed, too.

The dodgers/giants get one wwildcard spot for certain. I guess it is a four team race for the other. St Louis, if healthy, should have the edge, imo

White Sox haven't scored a run in 32 innings. Yikes.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Shields has an era of 2.43 over his last 5 starts. I liked it better when he was the worst pitcher in baseball history

murphy tied it up with a homer against pit with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th now the nats looking theyll walk off in the 10th

I know it's better the Pirates lose, but I hate knowing we drop to the 3rd seed in the NL playoffs if Washington wins

Without looking, I bet you guys can never guess who is no-hitting the Giants in the 6th inning right now.

Was just coming to post about this.

I should have waited a minute so we could have had our third simultaneous carbon-copy post this year.

Haha. Chance missed, I guess.

He's through 6 now and only thrown 72 pitches. And the Pirates and Nats are on to the 16th.
