It's a shame the 24-6 start to the season screwed the Cubs out of a top 5 pick in the 2017 draft.

We still doing the green font thing here?

I'm frustrated. But not worried. I'll only get worried if Fowler, Lastella and Soler are all back and we are still playing like this. Right now the bottom of our lineup is filled with a talented Triple A lineup.

What's Soler gonna do, give everyone killer back rubs so they relax and start kicking ass again?

He smiles really well.

Damn right.

Ninnies.

Assuming we don't get even more hurt by injuries than we already have, this team is still going to win 105+ and moonwalk through the second half to the best record in baseball.

I hope so. Definitely good enough to do that but it's hard to expect a team to finish at least 54-27 when they've gone 26-24 in last 50 games (and yes I understand all good teams ply .500 a chunk of the season. Just hard to visualize it when you are in that period). That said I still believe the talent level of this team is 110+ games just can't quite figure out why it hasn't translated lately. Probably because I'm dumb

you can't both say those things you said and then say that...like, i'm not worried by this recent stretch (mostly i'm just trying to ignore it), and i never believed their true talent level was 110+ games. that's, uh, really high. and i feel like that is an understatement.

Yeah it is and I think they have the talent to win that many games. Obviously luck falls into that equation and the Cubs have been one of the most unlucky teams in the league. If we are playing to our Pythagorean (was 6 games worse. After this series were probably closer to 4 wins now) we are 55-26 after today or exactly on pace for 110 wins with neutral luck

I'm kinda impressed how wildly UMFan oscillates from crippling pessimism to delusional optimism.

Haven't really been pessimistic as much as Jason starking negative observations.

Most do because I was very insufferable in 2008 when I was actually being pessimistic.

Now I'm slightly less insufferable but occasionally say something funny or positive

Everyone remember where you were and who you were with for the Wilmer Flores Game.

Do you mean today's game or the one where he was crying all over the field?

The one where he made the Cubs cry all over the field.

I wonder how it gets decided who gets the rest of the day off? I'd have thought the franchise player who has missed time with a bad back twice this season would be the first choice. Or at least the third after the two old guys.

So Hammel and Lester both have the worst outings of their lives in the same series? Whole team is swinging at first pitches and not working counts? Sure, I'm not worried

Give us a bat in the lineup that's better than Javy and also allow Contreras to catch more so Ross/Montero play less.

I forgot about that. What a massive [expletive].

I want Peralta to not come back to Chicago with the team.

It took the previous 13 games prior to this series for the Mets to score as many runs as they have scored in these 4 games.

Seems pretty debatable.

Actually his is discouraging. If his back is good enough to pitch then it's not his back that's causing him to suck. He just sucks
