Today, I noticed that Jeffery Baez already has 19 stolen bases.

Decent approach, good raw tools. The raw power is there to go with the aforementioned speed. I believe AzPhil said he was like a firetruck in Arizona, or something like that. Something about him just barreling and charging hard. Of course, biggest problem is, for all his raw tools, his hit tool simply isn't there right now.

I half think he may Logan Watkins his way up a bit - that is, he'll click for a stretch, in the summer perhaps, and put up intriguing enough numbers that, to go along with his tools, will be mildly intriguing to look at (like his 2nd half last year at SB. Of course, could also see an Alcantara like breakout at some point, only to settle down.

A mildly intriguing raw guy with tools.

Oh yeah...

The good: Underwood actually has 3K in 3IP

The bad: He's allowed 6H, 1HR & 4ER

He's supposedly hitting 97-99 too. No clue what to truly make of him, definitely disappointed, but he's still plenty young.

Underwood continues to live up to my minimal expectation of him.

Then again, I have minimal expectations of pretty much all pitching prospects.

Zagunis heard us talking about him. He's 2-2 with a HR so far today.

What a horsefeathering draft this is turning out to be......Schwarber in the first. Stinnett isn't great in the 2nd, but he's got a chance to make the majors, I guess. Zagunis in the 3rd is a steal. Sands and Steele were great overslots to grab in the 4th and 5th, both obviously have rotation upside still. Got Cease in the 6th, our best shot at a top of the rotation arm......That's more than enough to be considered a great draft......

But they also plucked Ryan Williams in the 10th(with a 1,000 bonus lol), Chesny Young came in the 14th too. For that matter, finding Jason Vosler in the 15th and Brad Markey in the 19th is pretty fun. Hedges and Null may even be slightly more than org guys possibly.

At any rate, they horsefeathering killed it.

Yeah, that's damn solid.

If we could somehow manage a normal 13 position player group, keeping Vogelbach as a PH/DH could conceivably work, I guess.

contreras is top 5 in the PCL in OPS, which is pretty cool because he's a 24 year old catcher who doesn't play his home games in colorado springs or tuscon or reno.

Coming into today, he was 15th in the entire minor leagues in wOBA. If you only look at guys 24 and younger, he is 7th.

I posted this in the game thread, but would anyone take the over on one start in LF for Willson this season in the majors?

Like if they think he has a ways to go with receiving/game calling and don't trust him to catch this season, come August and September, will he force his way into the lineup in other ways? He's supposed to be fairly athletic and has played other positions in the minors.

I think they think he's a catcher. Not just a catcher but our starting catcher for the next 6 years. You saw what happened to Schwarber in LF this year. Now, his catching future is much more unclear. Why would we risk that with a guy whose only real position the past couple years has been behind the dish?

Its just not worth the risk. We can put Kris Bryant, Ben Zobrist, Jorge Soler or Matt Szczur in LF -- not bad options.

looks like bad carls jr. showed up tonight.

I'll assume that Tom posted about Concepcion's walk before Edwards came into the game. Or he just didn't want to talk about his boy walking three and giving up a couple runs.
