as for him being top-50, i don't have much of a problem with the idea, but that's more looking through and thinking of guys placed there whose profiles i mostly dislike (Nick Williams, Sean Newcomb, Aaron Judge)

75-100 is probably a bit more reasonable given lack of extreme upside

Jeimer's biggest value to us is in a trade so it's good to see him getting on track.

The beauty of him, especially once his glove became a non-issue, is that teams will be interested in him so long as he's not [expletive] the bed. He just has such as an interesting profile as a switch hitter with a good eye, contact, power potential, and the ability to play a non-1B IF position. He had aloooooooooooot of fans in the AFL, and every org has eyes out there. Even good timing with ST...I'd bet the Yankees love him if there was any way to confirm that hunch.

I agree, it would be awesome if he could be the main/most significant piece in a Miller trade.

since moving up to AA (includes AFL)

107 G, .282/.373/.474, .307 BABIP, .388 wOBA, 140 wRC+ and best of all, 12.4% BB / 14.2% K

last year, Max Kepler was the only 22 & under player in all of AA to beat 140 wRC+ threshold

another point on the bullish KATOH placement- compare JC's AA line (.265/.365/.430) with top-50 prospect Jesse Winker's (.271/.380/.421) and try to discern much of a difference; understandably, Winker is a full year younger but he's also got a corner OF profile instead of third base here

I'd think Miller hurts to deal for. The Yanks don't sell, figure they'll be back next year.....My honest guess is a Miller package starts with Torres, if we truly want him. I'd say Torres/Candelario/Vogelbach/Clifton or something else along those lines. They have leverage and they'll use it in that case for sure.

Yeah, teams may like him but they're not giving up stars with Candelario as the big piece. People might [expletive] their pants at what it costs if the Cubs trade for an established pitcher with multiple years of control.

I meant using him as a main piece for a good reliever, Miller was just an example. I agree he's going to cost more than just Jeimer. As for starting pitching Jeimer alone isn't going to net much, he might not even be enough to be the main piece get a James Shields level pitcher.

i mean there's a Theo quote somewhere where he made a remark directly to the effect of "those who think we'll be trading our impact hitters for pitching haven't been paying attention"

impact hitters on the cubs being rizzo, bryant, maybe russell because of positional comparisons.

The rest are mostly good hitters or just not bad hitters which is what the team is made of. A lot of the rest are interchangable parts.

ok, so maybe now, 4 years into his tenure while we have the top staff ERA in baseball by a decent margin, will be the time that they fully sell out in trades for pitching, and perhaps even create a positional hole or two in the process

I could see Soler being the only major league youngster they'd deal currently. My guess is Javy is too versatile for them to move. My guess is Contreras is off limits, but everyone else could be had.

This is unless true superstar talent becomes available, but even then, I wonder if we'd deplete everything depthwise, when it likely doesn't truly increase our postseason chances.

i do think we'd love to get a worthwhile return for Jorge or Javy, neither of whom really are (what i believe to be) Theo-preferred players

I mean, Javy isnt Theo-preferred at the plate as a starting anything but as a backup SS/3B/2B I am sure he is more than tickled with him.
