this isn't a thing and has nothing to do with how this game will play out

it's no harder than winning any two consecutive games

You sure about that? Often you aren't starting the lineup you'd be able to start if it was back-to-back days rather than on both and you also are dealing with bullpen choices you might not normally have to deal with. I imagine it is harder.

Think about what you just said. In baseball, you play another team.

Right, but the Cubs sitting their good guys and not playing them gives another team a better chance to beat us considering a shitty team has less guys to sit that will hurt them.

yes i'm sure about that

I don't think you should be, is what I'm saying. It's not impossible to win a doubleheader and it happens of course, but there are definitely things that make it more difficult than winning on back to back days.

Jesus Christ. Literally everything you are saying applies to both teams evenly and thus means nothing. Just stop.

go find me proof that double headers are swept less often than any two consecutive baseball games.

until then, i'm not wasting time debating this.

Oh, so you don't know either it sounds like.

But IT'S NOT.

no, i'm putting the onus on you to prove (or at the very least, provide any evidence) that an effect you are positing exists actually exists.

Right, but the Cubs sitting their good guys and not playing them gives another team a better chance to beat us considering a [expletive] team has less guys to sit that will hurt them.

Right, and the Cubs have a better bench so their bench players starting will be better than the Padres bench players starting, and the Cubs have a better bullpen so more of our bullpen pitchers pitching will be better than their bullpen and if you try and do that thing where you point to Strop and Ramirez today to refute this, just....don't.

which, if anything, would just mean "doubleheaders are a little harder to sweep for the inferior teams with less depth (and therefore easier to sweep for the better team with more depth)." which isn't exactly a groundbreaking idea.

If we lose this how many consecutive wins do we need to go back about .800 winning percentage?

ugh that disgusts me. stop that. don't do that to me.

Seven. Or 6 after tonight.

Edit: What? I'm an idiot. See TT below.

Rogers says Kalish is leading off and not LaStella, why?

Is La Stella sick or nursing an injury? With a RH starting this game and a LH starting game 2, I figured he'd at least start this one.

I don't think he is sick/injured. Rogers said in the 8th he was on deck during Rizzo's ab.

maddon loaded the lineup with righties for rea because he's a reverse split guy

i know lastella was supposed to be on deck to PH in the 8th, iirc.

Well. That's a bad loss.

You're gonna have like, 15 really heartwrenchingly bad blown lead losses *minimum* a season so. It happens.

I'm really glad I stopped paying attention after the top of the 8th, saved me even more runners on >2 out nonsense. They got some real bad sequencing and hard hit ball luck in those situations, and there's nothing you can do about that.

Are we due for some nice comeback wins? How many do we have right now? 25?
