Usually when we talk about Javy, we talk about the big physical tools, the unbelievable baseball instincts and intellect,” Epstein said. “But one thing I know his teammates appreciate being around him every day is just his pure toughness. This guy puts his body on the line every day when he plays, gets beat up quite a bit and always finds a way to stay in the game, always finds a way to get in the lineup the next day.

I don’t think he gets enough credit for being such a team-first guy,” Epstein said. “He cares so much about winning. He cares about his teammates, doing little things to help engage them and make them better. It’s awesome. Those intangibles behind the scenes are a big part of what makes him so valuable.

Really good article.

Personally, I think we should make Baez the starting SS next year and explore trading Russell in the offseason for a strong "T. Turner + J. Ross" type package. If no strong trade proposals emerge then keep him and hope he improves his approach at the plate and remains healthier next year, along with fewer off-field distractions. A. Russell is still super valuable because of his defense and power so maybe the Cubs FO is still really high on him.

He's also still our best SS and it would be stupid to trade him

Not sure it would be all that stupid if you had Trea Turner headlining the deal

Just thought I'd share this little nugget from the past. Look who wrote that last line. Huh, that's weird...

Gotta say it's pretty funny now.

I don't get it.

It wasn't meant for you. If you don't get it, that's fine. Look who wrote that last line.

Might want to go back a few pages. Go back to page 57.

I wasn't looking for you when I went back to see what I wrote about Baez vs. Russell. I was genuinely surprised you were the one that thought I literally meant Trea Turner when I mentioned a "T. Turner + J. Ross" type package in a possible trade for Russell.

Surprised me and makes you look even more foolish for calling me out later.

This is mildly confusing and tremendously disappointing. Bad beef is bad.

Well, beef has been bad on NSBB since we traded Welington Castillo.

No, but seriously I didn't start this. I rarely even responded to his posts. Dude is weird:

You're familiar with this one:

A lot of posters here really like LHP - M. Liberatore so I'll post the link to a recent article on Fangraphs. I still think the Cubs have no chance at him, and it's kind of a waste of time to dream on getting him. I do think his velocity picks up as we get closer to the draft, and that he gets taken in the 2-8 range.

Can you do me a huge favor and post the full horsefeathering name of horsefeathering 17 year olds that nobody's horsefeathering heard of?

You know a lot about draft prospects and you post a lot of cool horsefeathers about them and I'd like to benefit from your knowledge rather than wanting to choke you out.

After Anthony Bourdain passed away:

What horsefeathers news to wake up to. I passed the old Les Halles restaurant on Park Avenue the other day.

Damn. That's pretty sad. Suicide is a growing problem in this country and many Western countries. It horsefeathering sucks and when a celebrity does that it sometimes leads others to contemplate it or attempt it as well. Really tragic.

I horsefeathering hate suicide and any art form that shows it like Netflix's series "13 Reasons Why" too.

Not to get preachy, but if anyone here is depressed and/or having ill thoughts please seek help. Call the National Suicide Prevention lifeline (1-800-273-8255). Call a friend. Call someone if you're in trouble.

EDIT: There is no shame in seeing a therapist either. IMO everyone should see a therapist to help cope with their problems.

Aaaannnd now I can never make fun of you again. Nice post.

From this thread a few pages back:

Maybe once you turn 18 or whatever, you'll learn just how obnoxious it is when you make posts just to suck your own ****

I don't know what his problem is or why he feels the need to respond to whatever I wrote in the past. Dude is a weird horsefeathers.

Frankly, I generally ignored whatever he wrote in the minor league musings or draft threads because he isn't that knowledgable. That's the honest truth. I didn't really care that he got confused about trading Addison Russell for a similar package to what Washington got in that 3-team Wil Myers/Steven Souza trade. I just found it amusing is all.

Just wanted to put everything you wrote towards me out there. It's over. I won't bring it up anymore.

how are you responding if you have him muted?

I saw what he wrote. I'm pretty sure he has me on mute and sees what I wrote as well. Nothing wrong with that.
