I hope he can keep rolling w/ the same solid plate approach that's coincided w/ his past week of success. I don't want to make a huge deal over it, but the strike zone he gets still perplexes me. I hope he can just put that out his mind, do his thing & hopefully over time, umps start giving him a true strike zone (or we finally get robot umps).

Baseball is so weird and stupid. A week ago, a bunch of people wanted him sent down to Iowa, and most of the rest basically hated him. Now I want him in the lineup pretty much every single day.

I'm still wary he can consistently beast mode enough to offset how much he sucks at the other aspects of baseball, but it has been nice to see his gorgeous mug actually succeeding at the plate again.

Yeah, I am going to be wary with him until he is OPS'ing like .900 and leading the team in dongs in August. I love seeing him crush baseballs, though.

Georgie is still going to become the Donging Adonis that he is destined to be and all you guys are gonna look back on this thread like the Arrieta trade thread and realize you were all woefully wrong.

Suck it, haterz

The new launch angle and amount of balls he is getting in the air is definitely encouraging. He wasn't going to survive as a low-contact, poor defender in a corner outfield spot by hitting a bunch of line drive singles. Time to dong yourself to value, Jorge.

People keep conflating pessimism (a critical pessimism at that, one backed up by stats and evidence) regarding a player with rooting against him. I don't think there's a single poster on this board that *wants* Soler to fail, everyone is rooting very hard for him to succeed.

We've just had 500 at bats or so of evidence that he's been a kinda below average hitter. We know for sure he's a really bad defender, and unlikely to improve much, so he's been a negative player for more than a full year. He's made some adjustments (particularly getting the ball in the air, he's hitting flyballs at a rate 15% higher than 2015) and his walk rate is up and his strike out rate is down. His BABIP is 110 points lower than it was last year, so he's also been unlucky. Along with whatever punishments the umps love to dole out against him and his strike zone, for whatever reason.

There's reason to hope, and with injuries over the outfield he's gonna get consistent playing time so he has time and very little pressure to figure it out.

RIP Jorge Soler, anytime you start getting into a groove and look good you sprain a hammy and go out for a month

no worries. he will just randomly come back in october and dominate again. it's not like they need him in the meantime.
