Of course not. It's obviously him. He admitted it was him. The issue is that someone was depraved and malicious enough to do this to him mere minutes before the biggest moment of his life. That's twisted and wrong.

Exactly, and it went better than they possibly could have dreamed, given the juicy sound bytes he provided during that press conference where he was clearly confused about the questions coming his way. His agent made a huge mistake letting him even do something like that given where Tunsil's mind must have been at that moment.

Someone was out to get Tunsil, and succeeded. We don’t know who that someone is. But we know someone’s been trying to sell that video for weeks.

 

On April 12 we received an email in our tips inbox:

 

"40 sec video of Projected top 5 pick in the 2016 NFL draft smoking drugs (crack or weed) from gas mask. Looking to sell."

 

The email address is apparently a throwaway, but it arrived under the name “Laremy Tunsil.” Somewhat tickled by the caginess of the text when the ostensible subject was right there in the “from” column, we replied, half-facetiously:

 

"Is it Laremy Tunsil?"

 

The emailer promptly replied.

 

"yes."

 

They then sent three screen shots from the video that emerged last night.

 

We did nothing after that. We will pay for a good story (email us!), but a college kid smoking weed is not a story at all.

 

The only regrets from draft night ought to be from Tunsil for his poor password hygiene, and from a whole bunch of early-drafting NFL teams for passing on a top prospect for the absolute dumbest of reasons. And whether they regret it or not, the biggest shame belongs to whichever dirtbag screwed over Tunsil.

Again. A sizable portion of these guys have all smoked weed at some point. It's not anymore stupid than anything any of these others guys have done in their lives. You are judging by the consequences but not that actual circumstances of what he did and when he did it.

You are forgetting the part about him deserving to lose millions and be embarrassed during the biggest moment of his life due to him going to Ole Miss and being paid to do that. As the first blue chip prospect in history to be paid by boosters, he deserved to be made an example out of.

Yeah I think its a shitty unfortunate thing that happened and I know that most 17-20 year olds make stupid mistakes they wish they could take back, but at the same time I don't feel sorry for him. Beyond the pot smoking video, he apparently accepted money from his school, which he knew was wrong, and then was Brandon Dassey'd into admitting it publicly. But after all of that he is still the 13th pick of the draft and is pretty much immediately a multimillionaire.

 

If you want to feel sorry for someone feel sorry for Michael Sam who was basically forced to come out, and saw his draft stock drop multiple rounds overnight. Even if he ultimately isn't that good, if he is a 3rd or 4th round pick he gets a legitimate shot to realize his dream and play in the NFL.

Tunsil never failed a drug test in college and was clean during his combine testing, yet Bosa was suspended for marijuana and that apparently wasn't an issue. The NFL is weird.
