Is Illinois the school that smells bad when you drive up I-57?

is ole miss the tier 3 school that integrated its student body within the last 54 years?

Looks like the team learned about the coach being fired via Twitter. No team meeting before the news broke.

Meet the new AD, same as the old AD

erm, really, the program has bigger problems than worrying about whether the team should know that the lame duck coach with no actual recruiting leverage is fired.

bring on lovie. also, first black head coach in a major revenue sport. progress, baby.

Cubit is the one that leaked the dismissal, in this day and age how was Whitman supposed to stop that from happening? Tell the team first? Gather them both up in separate rooms?

In the poorest, fattest state in the union.

Calm down there Sully. It was an honest question. When I drive up the interstate to Chicago there is a college town that always smells funny as I pass by. Smells like a paper mill. Wasn't sure what school it was.

Lovie is a damn good coach and might make Illinois relevant in the football world.

Zook's hire didn't get you giddy?

I'm no Illini lover, but awfully chesty from a fan of a team that hired Ed Orgeron and Houston Nutt within the past 11 years.

It's Champaign. It's not the U of I that smells, but the Kraft plant.

Well ya I figured the ACTUAL school wasn't causing that smell.

The university's south farms have their moments of offensive smell.

First Illinois hire in 15 years that I am legitimately excited about
I was excited when Illinois hired Beckman....it meant they were not hiring Narduzzi.

that joke was hardly being blowhardy on my part. I sympathize tremendously with schools that make dreadful hires. Orgeron may have been one of the worst hires in the history of the conference. However, I will give Nutt and Orgeron some indirect credit for Ole Miss' current success in athletics. Their coaching efforts and awful administration led to the toppling of a good ole boy system and led to the total replacement of everyone in the athletic department with amazingly efficient and competent leadership (read: cheaters!1!!). Ole Miss went to the NCAA tournament, the College World Series, and had a New Year's Day bowl game all in the same year. That would never have occurred without Orgeron and Nutt dragging the program down to hell. The fanbase had enough and changes were made. Maybe Illinois will see similar progress.

Wait, so what is the question? Im not sure i understand the honest question in there. The school and city are plainly marked on any sign you'd be able to read.

And again, is ole miss the crap, barely accredited school that's biggest claim to fame is letting black people finally go there in the last half century?

the only people who care about this are people who are going to find something to complain about no matter what.

It's just poor protocol from a new AD

By the time Whitman walked back to his office after letting Cubit know, word had leaked.

Yes. It was an honest question. IIRC, the sign says something like University of Illinois-Champlain or something. I didn't know if that was THE school itself or a satellite campus. Now I certainly know where UIL is located. I can add it to the list of other Big Ten schools that I now know where they are located. Horray...

Get over it Sully, it's not a big deal.
