Long story short: kid is dying of bone cancer, but his parents have decided to not tell him that he is dying. Bobby Murcer is the sick kid's favorite player and he hits 2 HR's after talking to the kid on the phone earlier and saying he'd try to hit a HR for him. When Murcer hits the first one, someone working for the Cubs passes a note to Jackson in the booth about the story, but neglects to specify that the kid doesn't know that he's dying. Jackson mentions it, and specifically mentions that Murcer hit his home runs for "Scott Crull, a boy dying of cancer."

 

I had never heard this before. Holy horsefeathers. Sadly, the kid did pass away a couple of weeks later:
