Sharks advance and the Blues will forever be in the Blackhawks shadow.

On the Blues reddit one of the fans said "oh well at least we [expletive] the Blackhawks"

Yeah we are hurting so badly with our 3 recent cup wins

The sad thing was this was their best shot, they knocked off the Hawks, plus the Kings were taken out, and played a garbage Dallas team in the 2nd round. The path in the West was weak compared to recent years and they still didn't get it done. Next year, with rest and some defensive help the Hawks will be better, have to think the Kings will too. Plus they will be dumb enough to keep Hitchcock now.

Lightning ruin my perfect bracket in the east. Should be a fun Cup final. I'm not sure I want to win. I like Pavelski but I'm tired of hearing about Burns. I don't really want Crosby to win another Cup but I would like to see Kessel shove it in the collective faces of Leafs fandom.

I want the Sharks to win. Plus if the Pens win, their core has 2 cups. They were supposed to do what the Blackhawks have done during this era.

That being said, I think Pittsburgh wins in 6.

I have nothing against the Sharks. They bent over for us the only time we played them in the playoffs. Pittsburgh has Trevor Daley who reminds me of Bowman's merry-go-round of blue liners this year and how it failed because Daley has been great, Sharp was good, Scuderi sucked, and Ehrhoff barely played.

Penguins playing hockey makes much more sense than Sharks. I think this series goes 7. I may even watch some of it as it should be exciting hockey. I missed most of game one but the parts I saw during the 2nd period had a lot of end to end play. I think I trust Jones more than Murray so Sha arks in 7. That ought to just about guarantee a Pens victory.

The shoulder patches add even more of that soccer flavor to it, imo. The more I see them the more I like them.

So... I guess the Pens have reinforced the idea that speed wins Cups.

I'm in denial. The Pens aren't winning.

The Sha arks haven't led in regulation through 4 games. That's pretty amazing.

And Gordie Howe dies now, completing a pretty rough trifecta of sports celebrity deaths with Ali and Kimbo Slice (who isn't in the league of Ali or Howe but was relevant more recently and his death was unexpected).

Anyways, RIP Howe, truly a great. The most amazing thing about his career IMO was that he retired from the NHL at age 42 in 1971, returned 3 years later, playing 6 seasons in the WHA, then came back to the NHL at age 51 (!!!) to play with his 2 sons and ended up playing 80 games for the Hartford Whalers, tallying 15 goals and 41 total points.

Hah that's fine. I don't even like MMA nor have I watched anything he's been in. Just happens to be 3 sports related deaths that have been big stories over the last week. It's on you when another treasured sports legend dies because Kimbo's sacrifice wasn't good enough for you.

Who isn't a treasured sports legend, Ali or Howe? Because you misread my post (or I just worded it badly) if you think I was saying Kimbo Slice is a treasured sports legend.

How could that possibly be interpreted any other way than you believe another sports legend must die if I don't think Kimbo qualifies as a legend?

My original three was a '3 sports death' thing. In that I clearly stated Kimbo was not on the level of the other 2, but since he was relevant more recently, it was treated as a big enough story to be in a group of 3 deaths (and for the most part when people make these connections, there is usually one that's a stretch to make the theory work). Then you said he's not good enough to be in the group, meaning that Ali and Howe only deserve to have a triumvirate with another treasured sports legend. And my reply said its on you if another treasured sports legend dies because Kimbo was not allowed in this cycle of 3 deaths.

I guess I just find it strange that you would think that even the biggest MMA fan ever would consider Kimbo a treasured sports legend, much less one that has never watched an MMA match literally only recognizes his name, Ronda Rousey and Chuck Lidell in the MMA world.

Season seemed to end with a whisper.

It wasn't a bad series, but wasn't great either IMO. I will miss hockey though.

the finals were okay. Just seems like no one outside of Pitt and the bay area cared. And the bay area is probably way more focused on the Warriors. Didn't even feel like there was a lot of Penguins hate like there used to be.
