So needless to say, this year's CBJ season sucked balls, but there are silver linings:

- Saad and Jenner (both 23) had 30 goal seasons

- Atkinson (age 26) had 27 goals

- rookie goalie Joonas Korpisalo (16-11, 2.60 GAA, .920 Sv%) could make Bobrovsky an expendable asset

They need huge help defensively, though, as they are almost dead last in goals allowed.

Good for him. I wouldn't want to stick around with the Wings either. I don't question their player development. But they suck at free agency and are too loyal. They are easily the worst team in the playoffs and it's hard to see them making it next yr unless a top pairing dman emerges and a real power forward is acquired.

Datsyuk will be greatly missed.

Went to see the Caps- Ducks game last night. This was the game that got postponed by the blizzard. Literally could not give these tickets away let alone sell them. We went and had fun.

Some notes:

Game was delayed by celebrating Justin Williams' 1,000th game. The team chipped in and gave him a golf vacation for 2 in Scotland. No word on whether he has to pay to bring his 2 kids or whether the players are going to babysit. Seems kind of strange to give someone a golf vacation right before the playoffs start.

His parents taped a message for the video board. The team should have flown them out, there were plenty of empty seats.

Ovie taped a message also even though he was there in a suit.

My Wife" Who is Love Chicken?"

Me: "What?"

My Wife "I keep seeing people with Love Chicken on the back of their jerseys"

Me: "That's Ovechkin, he's their best player"

The Caps have cheerleaders for some reason.

The Devils also had cheerleaders, but they are fairly pointless and no longer exist.

Not sure why they should have flown out the parents, it's not like it was some huge achievement.

According to the Caps, 1,000 NHL games is a big deal.

As for the cheerleaders, they were doing their thing but it was hard to pick them out of the crowd since them were wearing red and so was almost everyone there. I wanted to get a custom jersey with a 0 for the numbers and "Cups" on the name plate but that was too much to spend on a joke that might have gotten my ass kicked.

Has Dallas' complete lack of any defense finally caught up to them? I hope not.

It looks that way, I think the Blues will end up playing for the Cup. San Jose or Nashville? Nah

Given the Blues' desire to take stupid penalties, The Sha arks power play could destroy them.

Good point, and I hope that happens

For people who watch more hockey than me, how is it okay to call goaltender interference when the player gets shoved into the goalie?

I'm watching the San Jose-Nashville game and Pavelski got shoved into Rinne and they waived off the game winning goal in OT. They reviewed the play and came up with goalie interference. Pavelski might not have been able to stop anyway, but he definitely got shoved in the back which helped him into Rinne.

I understand waving that goal off at first look. But, since it was reviewed, I think they made the wrong decision. Clear, consistent administration of the rules is not a strength of the NHL

Edit: I may disagree with the call, but I didn't think it was a horrible call either.

That's what happens when you allow judgement calls to get reviewed. That's why the other 3 spots don't allow that for the most part.

It's a good question because it actually happens a lot and, near as I can tell, the rule is that you shouldn't be in a position to get shoved into the opposing goalie. Goalie interference is a rule that really does need to be modified and better defined. There are dirty cheating cheaters like Jonathon Quick that will try to knock opposing players off their skates into them to get that call. Then you have guys like Elliott who claim interference every time someone is within 10 feet of them.

Someone yesterday told me that it was one thing that Pavelski was pushed into Rinne, but that does not give him the right to stay on top of him and make a,hockey play. The first thing he should have done was get off the goalie. So if someone else would have scored the goal, it probably would have counted.

Maybe. The rule is something to the effect that the goalie has to have the chance to play his position. So if someone else knocks in the puck, the refs could rule that Rinne was interfered with on the play. I've heard people say that if Pavelski had just let the puck go in on its own the goal would have counted.

I almost feel bad for the Caps fans. Almost. Can't wait to see the Lightning dismantle the Pens. That would make my bracket in the East perfect which nicely balances out the train wreck I had in the West.

The Penguins have been playing like the best team in the world for the last couple of months, I don't think anyone is dismantling them. Their coaching change did them so much good. I'm happy for Kessel, who routinely got killed by the Toronto media for supposedly being a guy you can't win with.

I agree. The Stamkosless Lightning may also be the weakest team the Pens have played so far in the playoffs.

The Lightning have been pretty good even without Stamkos. I think they get Stralman back for this series. The Pens have been very good but Tampa has the speed to keep up with them the way other teams haven't. I don't trust the Pens blue line and they relied pretty heavily on Murray to beat the Caps. It should be a fun series.

I'm happy for Kessel too.
