what a great day, Real Madrid and Juve go down

yep. madrid and city looked rusty. varane basically gave the tie away and city was not sharp in the final third. Debating whether to watch the other game or not. looked like two crappy penalty calls.

the MLS St. Louis team released their name and branding today: [tweet]

I give it a 7/10. Best parts are the colors(hard to be unique in MLS and pulled that off), the design(arch, city flag, and city layout all blended together), and not being pretentious and saying SC. I probably would have put the text on top, and City is a bit uninspiring(though it is what St. Louis used to be called, and leaves room for organic nicknames), and nothing really leaps out and grabs you as a neutral, but it avoided catastrophe.

Poor Atalanta.

they abandoned their style . . . shockingly low scoring game although PSG looked pretty hapless until Mbappe came on. This week rocks.

I wasn't able to start watching til the 70th minute or so, had they bunkered in before Gomez went off? I assumed between their talisman getting hurt and tired legs they didn't have much other choice, especially with Mbappe's speed being a huge threat.

They didn't really bunker until that point I would say, though they weren't that aggressive in their pressing. PSG's offense was all Neymar until Mbappe came on but PSG won every footrace every where on the field. The difference in team speed was pretty stunning (though not that surprising). You may be right that that was all they had left - the forward (Devan?) totally ran out of gas and couldn't hold the ball up at all, which really killed their chances to get out from the back - especially coupled with no over the top threat.

Good riddance! It looked like Simeone spent the last six weeks drilling them on diving. Totally disgusting.

and . . . Tyler Adams with the winner!

Shades of Germany-Brazil from the 2014 World Cup.

barca is just old and slow . . . city-bayern would be a great semi . . .

Bayern will destroy city's backline.

So much for that. Sterling misses a goal he probably scores 98% of the time that would have made it 2-2 and a minute later Ederson can’t catch an easy save and Lyon puts in the rebound for 3-1.

Too bad Atalanta blew it late. Could have had them, Leipzig and Lyon in the semis a year after having Spurs and Ajax there. Been a good two year run for non traditional sides making waves.

Even PSG, for all the money they’ve spent, this is their first UCL semifinal.

Glad Robinson was able to find a Premier League home and where he has a decent path to playing time, though he'll definitely have to step up defensively to keep playing since Fulham seems likely to be battling relegation.

And their starting left center back isn't always 100% defensively sound either. Although that Ream-Robinson left side combo is pretty slick going forward.

Messi is officially leaving Barca and he should definitely come to MLS. Going to Man City or whatever is meaningless at this point in his career. He has zero need to add to his legacy in Europe. He should just come here, dominate, make tons of money, and be totally anonymous off the field.
