What in the world is Schwarber doing as a talking point, is this the 'how dare you let this person endanger himself by playing the OF' nonsense again?

the cubs problems being all due to the "failed experiment" of batting schwarber leadoff is all the rage all over chicago sports media today

i switched between 670 and 1000 and they were both talking about how they'd drop him/bench him at the same time.

I'm convinced those are the only 2 stations your car gets.

i deal with the dumb hot take stuff (although WSCR is much better about that these days) for hearing the interviews, live talk, etc. sometimes i just want to listen to people talking instead of music (yeah podcast blah blah blah - they're not live but i do listen to a few).

i don't listen to 1000 just about ever anymore though.

Exact same way although this week the new Beatles XM channel has been on most of this week during my drives instead of sports talk

The XM Beatles channel is something of a fraud. I'm not really interested in obscure songs that influenced the Beatles. How about playing songs by the Beatles? Even the ones by Ringo.

As for Schwarber leading off, Eduardo Perez made a point worth considering during the telecast the other day. Perhaps leading off made Schwarber change his approach and that caused him to overthink hitting. I realize that this sounds kind of meatbally and hard to quantify but players are human beings and leading off or batting clean up has been known to affect player's approaches before. Ryne Sandberg, for example, was mostly a lot better batting 2nd than 3rd. Schwarber has likely batted 3rd or 4th on every team he's ever been on so there would be a higher comfort level as a middle of the order guy.

Am I correct in assuming that you're new SXM? Because that's been their MO with all of their "single artist/band" channels since forever; a ton of songs by the titular artist/band/band members/spinoffs, plus a bunch of covers of that band's music, or other acts that directly inspired or were inspired by them.

Yup. The Tom Petty channel seems to largely be stuff Tom Petty liked. Pearl Jam played a bunch of last summer's concerts the next day, which was pretty cool. But it's a bunch of other stuff most of the time.

But the dead channel is always the dead, at least whenever I throw it on. They have the jam band channel right next door for all the "similar" acts.

Agree to some degree. At first I thought it was refreshing to mix in some covers and music influenced by but it definitely happens more frequently than I'd like. They played some ELO song the other day that was nothing Beatle like. Just now they were playing a Peter and Gordon track that was written by Lennon/McCartney so I guess they are stretching the definition of Beatles channel pretty far.

But I've heard some deeper solo tracks I've never heard before, some alternate takes of Beatles songs (guessing live at BBC), and I liked the show with Peter Asher they had on yesterday who had some cool first hand stories that I've never heard.

Playing songs written by the Beatles doesn't seem like a stretch at all.

I've never listened to any of the one artist channels before. I only listen to the Beatles channel when my daughter is in the car because she doesn't like alt nation and I refuse to listen to country music. The Beatles station is a compromise.

I just realized Sirius XM is free until the 30th. They did change their lineup a bit, and it seems better than when I had an active radio until 2015.

Lithium still is playing the same stuff over and over though. Like was mentioned here before, RHCP way too damn much.

Man, local radio in Southern California plays the horsefeathers out of RHCP. So horrible. (Same for Linkin Park, Blink-182 and Sublime. You'd never know there are good bands from here.)

Going back to sports talk radio, I noticed that Matt Abbatacola abruptly quit the Score the other day and it doesn't sound like he has a job lined up elsewhere. Guys was always kind of a douche but weird to see so many long time Score guys leaving over the last few months, joining Boers, Rongey, Rodewald and I feel like I'm missing another one.

well, at least it means that they're promoting Joe Ostrowsky to on-air and bringing back Herb Lawrence as a producer.

I wouldn't read anything into the departures, though. Maybe Abatacola was salty about not getting Goff's spot with Spiegel.

Rongey got a drive time show and is from the St. Louis area. Rodewald, I have no idea but who cares?

That is the Mount Rushmore of awful 90's bands.

the other night at trivia there was a music round and all the artists were from australia so i wrote silverchair for the three shitty rock songs i didn't know and it was right twice.

Limp Bizkit and other nü metal bands belong in their own Mt. Rushmore. Russ Hanneman's Mt. Rushmore, if you will.

Boers was health related though. That one is definitely different from the others. And good lord was Rongey awful. Abbatacola, like you said, is a major douche. I'm gonna guess Abbatacola's had a lot less input with Goff in there instead of Boers.

I know Rodewald's name, but I know absolutely nothing about the guy.
