So that's:

mhuber as Team 4

cubbie swagger as Team 2

philosphizer as Team 1

Diceman, you good for participating as Team 3? Not much pitching to start with, but Miggy & Encarnacion is a good start to the offense.

All four of you guys should have fresh invites for your new teams. Let me know if you didn't get it in the mail.

As for figuring out keepers, just ask anyone here if you have any questions. Two tips: make sure to use last year's points instead of 2016 projections to calculate the points; and make sure to ask here about who is points-exempt. That's definitely the trickiest part of the rules for keepers.

Couple other thoughts:

1. We were planning to reshuffle the divisions this year. I think that makes sense with so many new managers (and UK, who was new last year and tanked his season) in the same division.

2. I want to remove E (-1) from the scoring system. I'd actually like to remove GIDP (-1) as well. Neither of those makes much sense to me especially relative to the weight given to other scoring categories.

Do we have all the teams filled? There was discussion about adding a friend of Steve's but I don't know if that happened or wasn't necessary.

I'm fine with any alignment on #1 - it makes sense to balance the power a bit.

I'm fine with both on #2.

We should have all the teams filled. Steve was counting UK as not returning, but I'm pretty sure he's coming back.

ok. If I make those changes now, will it muck up the point totals from last year? I want people to be able to use the CBS site to see how many points guys had last year and that should reflect the rules before we remove E and GIDP.

Can we sticky the trades threads so people know what they have? i'd hate to see someone trade the same draft pick to two different teams like some dumbass a few years ago.

Propose: Opening trades on March 3. Rosters due March 12. Draft starts March 15.

Honestly, I have no idea what impact it will have on last year's totals. try one and if it impacts them, you can change it back. Or just wait until after the draft.

please check again for new invites (except mhuber, who it correctly lists as having an invite)

I didn't get an email.

Am I going to have to make a new account entirely on CBS then? If so, will it make me use a different email?

it should use the account you already have at cbs if you gave the same email.

Oh, it isn't my turn yet

Luckily for you, I want Team 2.

i hope you enjoy Hanley Ramirez; last summer he cost you Schwarber and Jose Berrios

That has literally no effect on anything.

Exempt player primer for newbies:

Chicago Pigeons:

d'Arnaud is on his final exemption

Polanco is on his second exemption, he will have one more after the 2016 season

Gyorko is on his final exemption

Wacha is on his final exemption

Minors: McMahon, Demeritte, Mateo, Williams, Brinson, Lee, Honeywell, Gonsalves, Stephensen

ThomeDon'tPlayThat:

Swihart is on his first exemption, he will have two more

Singleton is on his second exemption, he has one remaining after 2016 (he also needs to be removed from the minors and count against the mlb roster)

Olivera is on his first exemption, he will have two more

May has used two exemptions, he will have one more

Jungman has used one exemption, he will have two more

Wheeler is on his second exemption, he has one more remaining. (he can be carried as a minor leaguer)

Lavarnaway is on his final exemption, but is also somehow still minor league eligible

Minors: Lavarnaway, Wheeler, Robertson, Goodwin, Almora, Appel, Biddle

I'll have to get to the other two later. Or if someone else wants to give the newbies a helping hand, that would be great.

From the Rules thread at NSBB:

The cap will be 2000 points. Players will be cap-exempt for their first three years. A year is a season in which a player has 50 or more plate appearances, 5 pitching starts, or 10 total appearances.

The players identified in Tim's and my posts above haven't used all 3 of their exemptions yet, so you can keep them without counting them toward your 2000 point limit. Otherwise, you can keep 10 guys in the minors and 10 guys in the majors but the total points in 2015 of non-exempt players can't be higher than 2000. Does that help?

On the CBS site, there are some rules on the League Details page.

There are also a bunch of threads in the archives that will have some rules. It's been simplified now that it's a daily changes league with just a 7-start cap. But the exemptions are critical, esp as people finalize rosters in the next couple weeks. Please make sure you understand before you start trading, esp with Tim.

Example (not that I'd necessarily do this):

I could keep these guys and be under the 2000 point limit

Schwarber (1st exemption) - 0

Zimmerman - 275.25

Wong (last exemption) - 0

Castro - 287.25

Franco (2nd exemption) - 0

Calhoun (last exemption) - 0

Soler (2nd exemption) - 0

King Felix - 524.5

Jake - 866.5

Corbin - 0

And all 10 guys in my minors all of whom are exempt.

Total Keeper points: 1953.5

Again, just an example.

One clarification question/statement:

The minor league players don't count against the 10-player max players kept, correct? But it could be possible for a minor league player to count against the cap, if they somehow were minors eligible but were out of exceptions?
