Last 2 years at AAA: 84.1 IP, 8.6 H/9, 8.3 K/9, 3.2 BB/9, 0.4 HR/9; plus a good but not incredible split against LH hitters

I'm guessing he's a reliever only? Hasn't really been a SP since early 2010's, only started 4 games between AAA/MLB this past year. Looks like he has decent velo for a LHP, in 2013 when he only appeared in relief his FB velocity averaged 95.5 MPH and was at 92.4 last year with about 60% of his innings coming as a SP.

My guess is he'll olmos make the team.

Seeing as we already have nearly $10MM worth of left handed relief pitchers, I'm guessing that Jed was browsing the waiver wire while Theo was on the phone with Lackey, and asked "look, the "American Me" guy. Can I have it?" And Theo kind of waved his hand as if to say 'sure, whatever.'

The Orioles claimed Olmos off waivers. To make room, and to complete the MLB transaction circle of life, the O's DFA'd Junior Lake.

Olmos was never on the 40-man, right? It's still full at 40?

He was on our 40 man and became available when we tried to take him off. Fundamentally, I think he is the casualty required to get Brendan Ryan onto the 40 man.

He was on it. We're at 38, but Cahill hasn't been added yet and neither has Brendan Ryan.

Ah, got it. Makes sense I would think Ryan will be the next casualty once we figure out (hopefully Heyward) CF.

Why would we want to do something like that?

Ryan is likely to be the backup infielder if we trade Javy for pitching.

Shall we shed a tear for Mendy?
