Rose had a decent 3 in the MVP season and the next year. He didn't play enough for it to mean much, but in 13-14 he was hitting them at a decent clip too. Then last year he totally cratered. Possibly due to the injuries and the time spent rehabbing. Probably fell in love with them too and shot too many difficult ones, too.

Fun game. It is absolutely cringe-worthy watching Rose jack up 3s. I can't believe he hasn't developed a decent 3 ball and really my biggest Rose beef is his game hasn't expanded much.

 

At least he only took 2

 

And considering his vision is screwed up, it's hardly a great time to criticize his 3pt shot.

But why bring it up now? After a game when the guy has blurry vision and only put up 2 three point shots. "Boy he sure does look awkward doing that thing that his injury is diminishing his ability to do well, and that he didn't do well to begin with and barely attempted last night...."

If Rose limits them to a few open looks a game, rather than actively looking for that shot, I think he should be fine.

Absolutely. And Hoiberg's offense seems to favor a lot of 3 point shots (although they only took 17 last night). If those shots are in the flow of the offense then I am fine with it. It's when he does heat checks or dribbles for 5 seconds near the 3 point like then hops back and launches one where I have issues because he's not a good enough shooter to take those shots regularly.

Because he's the guy that even Kyle probably thinks is too negative.

I still contend that he needs to be able to stick 3s at a decent clip in catch and shoot situations or when defenders are just gonna go way underneath ball screens if the offense is going to reach its potential.
