Sorry if this has been posted in another thread, but here's a video of Eddie Vedder singing "Someday We'll Go All the Way" with the team, at the after-party at Lester's house.

it's password protected now. damn.

[expletive]! Well, maybe the Cardinals front office can help us out, since they don't have anything to do right now.

When I think of this team I think of big swingin dongs, not little ball half-dong things. We're here because of our big swingin dongs. The Yankees of yore won because of their big swingin dongs. Plenty of other teams won because of big swingin dongs too. Edited by CubInOK

I still remember seeing this scene in the theatre in 1989 and getting a chuckle out of it thinking, "Gee, I hope we don't have to wait that long!" After all, the Cubs won their division that year. Now I hope that's exactly how long we have to wait. In case you're wondering, the actual odds of the Cubs winning the World Series this year at the start of the season was 14-1. Today, they're the Vegas favorite at 2-1. Go Cubs.

Damn, I'd never made the Back to the Future connection before. Good catch.

curious to hear what that guy's alternative playoff scenario would be.

The cardinals are presented with the MLB crown immediately upon completion of the regular season. (Note: it's a real [expletive] crown with jewels and stuff, not some [expletive], loser metaphor.) Remaining teams are allowed to play a for second place. The "winning team" is awarded a framed photo of Stan Musial receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Remaining teams get participation ribbons.

So he's cool with their 2011 title, even though it was a wildcard one?

It only proves his point, somehow.

Ha! Obviously everyone knows. It was a shot at myself for how wide-eyed I was in 1989. Some people just don't get it...

Game 4 of the NLCS will be played at Wrigley on October 21, 2015, which is the day Marty goes to in Back to the Future Part II.

I'm mentioning this now, so you'll be prepared for it when they mention it a billion times during Wednesday's broadcast.
